Weakness Is A Sin

Inevitably in life, we become associated with the wrong people. Through choice or not, there are some people who really appear to only wreak havoc in the lives of others. Plain evil though, we can all understand. But what of those people who are not evil to the core, but for some reason their actions match the same pattern, and on top of this, they feel no guilt and seem to have twisted things to their friends and maybe even themselves, so suddenly the innocent carry the blame. Are they evil? Do we forgive them? Should we?

Perhaps. In life it is our actions that matter, not our good nature if it is tainted by weakness to such a degree you may commit acts that bring harm and pain to others. Believing what you want to, that the woman meant yes when she said no, or that you really needed the money and he really needed the release when you sold that teenager his first hit of heroin, or failing to recognize the ill intentions in others when they lied to you about the actions of others you knew and should have known to trust, then following their tainted will, led along like a sick puppy. These are no simple sins. If you look at your actions and you see weakness of will - remember this: You represent in that moment every sheep there ever was, every Nazi working his 9-5 in the extermination of the Jewish people, every American soldier who observed the gang-rape of Iraqi children who failed not only to fight against it, but also to report it to his superiors. To be weak is to be as guilty as if you had committed the act of your full will. Being weak or strong is just as much a choice. Any sin you commit in life is added to the black mark of bad karma that you shall carry through till death and maybe even beyond. And weakness will win you no profit – sooner or later you too will be exploited, and this time it will be to your own and not another’s expense.

Perhaps the problem is our own humanity. The fact we are not like them, the fact we do not always stand up to fight. The fact we would rather be the one to settle the dispute with the stakes left in their favour because conflict itself is undesirable.

There are many ways to deal with one of these closures to a friendship. One can "enter diplomatic talks" – attempt to resolve the issue or “sign a peace treaty”, "start a cold war" – put simply - "bitch", "start a hot war" - confront, confront, force all other would-be neutral parties to side with one or the other, or, lastly, “abandon your stations”. For some reason, in recent months I have tended to verge toward the latter option. Why? When in the right, surely one should at least start the cold war? I chose a slightly different path. Those whose opinions matter, I realize, already have seen everything for what it is, and every individual involved for whom they really are. But what of the desire for revenge? Many a friend has asked me that. In the past, this may indeed have been something I would have desired. But now karma replaces revenge.

One could call me a Buddhist, of sorts. I live my life under a principle of minimized bad karma. I do believe that everything we do in life is carried with us to the grave and perhaps beyond, if such a place exists. Like a shadow or a beam of light shining out from our foreheads, lighting the way that guides us. And I believe this connects to the 'karma' that we receive from others throughout the course of our lives. It is true that a lot of the time a good person can be identified easily, just from a quick glance at the eyes and smile (or lack of). Nasty, suspicious, scheming people tend to develop a face which reflects these characteristics. Similarly, people who try to do the best thing, look at others with an open-mind and without jealousy or pride are similarly identifiable by their visual impression. Everything we do in life is recorded on our faces: your giveaway sideways glance of guilt when a related theme should come up in conversation might give away your true nature to your friends and family, that paranoid stare at a prettier and nicer girl across the bar because you know you lied to ensnare that man and that at any moment the truth might come out or another more attractive girl with morals of your level might come to similarly steal him from you, or similarly when you break into someone's home you may leave footprints or DNA traces that may someday lead back to you. And everyday these people must live with this thought, that either directly, or indirectly through the revelation of their true nature, but simply, one day:

THE TRUTH WILL OUT.

And when it does.

(And it always will).

Karma becomes revenge.

And till then I will sit back and enjoy my life, leaving a greater power and your own dark shadow to set the balance right again. Good luck to the weak and the downright evil, for they will fall hard when they do.

nonyabiz2002 Whoa, that's a bit dark... :-P

Call it Karma, the Golden Rule, or Revenge, almost every religion believes what comes around goes around. What is disputed is how that should be dealt out.

I have a tendancy to call myself a Catholic. Personally I don't think that we necessarily have to be the instrument of revenge, because if we do then we ourselves become evil. Sin cannot reconcile sin.

Rather having patience will yield much better justice than any single man or woman could ever exact - 8 months ago
alpinestars-2002795 I totally agree. It comes down to the old saying my dad once told me, "In time you will know." Eventually you'll find out all those things that someone did to you. Like me one day I was just sitting there and certain things hit me that I didn't notice in past realationships. Or things will slip as you said. The best part though? My father also once told me this, "it is not your job to exact revenge." "For you are not god." "He will exact revenge where it is do on his time." - 8 months ago

A Girl Answered When a person says that, they don't want to commit to you. They don't want to feel responsible and don't want any sort of attachment. Take it as a rejection and move on.
