Scent is one of the strongest senses tied to memory and plays a large role in adding appeal to may different things that people experience. Think of eating your favorite meal without the lure of its scent sending mental signals to your taste buds. Or, the beauty of a flower without the sweet and pleasurable aroma it emits. Lighting incense of heating scented oils can enhance the mood of the room by creating a peaceful, loving moments because the sense of smell has proven to trigger sensual and loving feelings. Jasmine is a scent commonly used to fragrance a bedroom in result of enhancing desire. It is said to bring strength and warmth to a sexual relationship. Orange is another evocative scent that is known for bringing warmth and cheerfulness that encourages warmth and sensitivity. A very exotically charming, sweet and woody scent is Sandalwood, known for enhancing emotional openness and physical sensuality. Sandalwood has been used in ritualistic sexual practices that celebrate the divinity of sexual ecstasy. It is also used for getting lovers out of a sexual rut.

The bottom most layer of the skin, the dermis, contains numerous nerve endings that are quite receptive to touch. Touch between two people can reflect safety and familiarity, and doesn't always have to be sexual, for example holding hands or caressing a lovers hair. It can be incredibly comforting to snuggle up next to a loved one and feel the sensation of their finger gently stroking the skin of your arm sending signals that chill your entire body. However, touch between lovers is also a sensual way of experiencing sexual intimacy. Take the time to explore your lovers body with either the hands or mouth to discover their endogenous zones. Think of it as a playful, bedroom scavenger hunt, keep in mind each person has different areas of their body that excite them. Make it a game by softly kissing and caressing different spots and don't forget to pay attention to detail. For many, including those who don't know it yet, the pit of the arm and the backside of the knee are extremely sensitive to touch.

The tongue has over 10,000 taste buds that are responsive to different flavors including sweet and sour, bitter, salty, and spicy. Use these little guys to your sexual advantage. For some, a hint of salt off of your lovers skin can be an aphrodisiac of itself, the same kind of arousal for the taste of lovers lips. However, to make a kiss more playful and a little more interesting, consider passing a piece of chocolate back and forth between your lips. Because chocolate contains a small amount of endorphins, it is considered an aphrodisiac for the euphoric and comfortable feelings it gives to those who eat it. Passing it back and forth orally can be exciting because of the rich, smooth, and velvety texture it produces when it melts. Also, try feeding each other exotic fruits or decadent desserts; it can be a highly arousing and intimate experience.

The fifth and last of the senses (but not least!), is sound. Sound and listening to surroundings can affect the mood of an atmosphere. Play music while engaging in sex to create an ambiance effect that can heighten the throws of passion. The selections should be chosen specifically for the style of lovemaking both you and your partner prefer. Romantic R&B is a great genre to get into the mood of relaxation and loving each other, with the soulful deep and meaningful lyrics and the slow and sensual rhythm. Easy listening and New Wave (think Pure Moods compilation) is ideal for relaxing and allows the partners to reach a higher mental state of sexual spirituality. For those who prefer faster lovemaking, electronica allows the couple to move at various speeds and tempos. If paired with a bottle of wine it can turn the experience into something hypnotic.

To increase the senses and the joy of sexuality, the key idea is to relax and be comfortable with your partner. Meditation is a great way to give the mind clarity and open all senses, teaching them to be more receptive to touch, sound, taste, sight and smell. Also, its important to trust your sexual partner whether or not you are in a committed relationship. Most importantly, be safe. Sex is a fun, enjoyable experience but frequently people forget it can have consequences, so remember if both parties are not committed or have not been tested for STDs, use a condom.
