Popping The Question; Will You Get Tested?

So that's probably not the most pleasant question to ask your boyfriend or girlfriend. And most like will leave you feeling highly uncomfortable. People usually don't know how to ask, so they just say "hey, I’ll take a chance" without even realizing it. Others think "oh he/she looks clean. As most of us know, many people do not know they have STDs because they don't have symptoms. - FYI. So you and your partner can do little things. But in order to actually have SEX, your partner must get tested. Now I'm not saying you have to ask your partner to do this. But it’s about yourself and your partner. And one sex act can change your life.

How To Ask:

Now for the record, I am a virgin. But I know that before I have sex with my boyfriend I will be asking him to please go get tested. As I was sitting in my room yesterday, I was looking at a HIV/AIDS brochure. I also play volleyball and I related the STD testing to the physical you must get in order to play. This is what I thought; for those who play sports you know you must get a physical before you actually start playing "for real". And you know that if you do not get your physical, you can’t play. And the reason they make you get your physical is to make sure you're healthy enough to play. So this relates to making your partner get tested. you and him/her can do little safe things (kissing, fingering, hand jobs, oral sex with condoms) - and kissing can also be dangerous (HPV, Herpes and syphilis) so you and your partner can do little things, but in order to have SEX, you must get tested. Now I’m not saying you HAVE to. But one sex act can one's life.

Why should you do it?

Basically because there are no STD prevention methods that are 100% effective - except for abstinence... and testing. Condoms do not fully protect from pregnancy and STDs because they may brake if used incorrectly. And also, they do not cover the bottom of the penis or the vagina. So that leaves you vulnerable to herpes, scabies, Crabs and HPV.

Don’t be a hypocrite:

Now of course if you want your partner to get tested, it would look better if you were clean right? You wouldn’t want your girlfriend asking you to get tested when she has Chlamydia would you? Of course not. So before you require this from your partner, you must be clean, and it would be even better if you two got tested together. That way he/she can feel more comfortable and not so "put on the spot".

If they say "No":

Let's face it. Remember when u were little and the teacher asks if little Timmy had gum in his mouth? And the teacher would ask him to open his mouth, but he wouldn’t? Now we all know it's because little Timmy had something to hide. Now... if your partner doesn’t want to get tested, it's probably because they; 1. Have an STD. or 2. Are afraid that they do. So if they refuse, the wisest thing to do is let it go. Unless you are willing to take the risk. So now it’s up to you world.

PinkCorset I think its awesome that your thinking about this, being safe is SO important that many sexually active young people don't even think about. I think it can be awkward but it woul dbe even worse if you had to go back and tell that person you had some type of STD. I had an ex-boy friend who came to me a year or so after we dated to tell me he had clamidia and guanorea and that was AWFUL! Thankfully he got it after me so I didn't get it but getting tested is so critical. - 3 days ago
