Alright so I've liked this guy for a while now he's 18 and I'm 16 I think he likes me, one of my friends asked him if he liked anyone he said yes when he asked why, and if he knew of anyone that likes him,and my friend said yea,then he asked who it was, well when my friend told him it was me he said he sorta likes me, but he said he isn't going to go out with me. When he asked him why he said b-cause he's afraid of getting hurt and he doesn't want any high school drama. But see he's been really hurt by his parents and the last girlfriend he had broke his heart! I don't know what I should say to him and I need some advice on what I can say without looking like a complete idiot. And if he doesn't ask me out after I tell him that I found out what he says and then I tell him what I'm going to say then should I just get over him?
Life's too short to worry endlessly about this stuff. Go up to him, ask him out and see what he says. If he's using excuses not to, say, "OK - it's your loss," and move on. You might find that within a day or two he comes running to you. If not. Ditch him.
One thing to be aware of, your age difference, while insignificant when you're older, is quite a big deal right now. That might be something that's bothering him.
Don't be in a hurry to hook up with a boyfriend. Take your time to find a guy who's prepared to go out on a limb to date you. There will be plenty in your life - I promise you. When he comes along, don't expect him to be perfect, but if he tries real hard and you like him - don't let him down!
