So I met and worked with this guy-friend this last summer at camp, and I noticed this pattern with his hugs. It started with the only giving me a friendly hug goodnight anytime it was just us to hanging out, but never if other people where around. This trend continued pretty much all summer. right up to the last day before I left to fly five states away home. He hugged me goodbye a few times periodically throughout the evening since I had to leave at five am, but I accidentally woke him up while banging around taking my stuff out at 4:30am anyway, he was sleeping on the floor, reached up and pulled me down into the best hug he gave me all summer. Lights off and no one around. 20 min later, others had woken up to say bye to myself and one other counselor and that awesome hug turned into the pseudo- awkward friend hug once more since people were present. He's pretty damn open and playful and gets in everyone's space, so what would be a reason for the hug inconsistency?
He liked you but for whatever reason didn't want to display it in front of others. Hard to say why he wouldn't want to be public with his affection. Shy perhaps?
My guess would be along the lines of it being camp and not wanting to pursue thing when within two months everyones back to their own corner of the country, like mentioned, 5 states difference in this case. Shy is not a word I'd use to discribe him, but who knows in these instances, things change. - 6 months ago
