Why are boys shallow?

I'm glad that I don't fit into that category. Sure, I notice looks. I live in a beautiful city with thousands of absolutely stunning girls, though, so looks mean little to me. I won't even show interest in a girl until I have got to know her a little better. Also, I only hang out with smart girls. It's not that I'm prejudiced against non-genius girls, but that that's just my line of work and the sort of girl that's in it. Media attracts girls that are creative geniuses, and also I see many girls from around the world, so there is a large variety.

Easy. Most if not all men are shallow. You can also blame rap music too.

You're not really in that age range, are you? Seriously, if you've had any contact with a guy that wasn't just flirting, you'll find out that personality kind of matters most, and smart. Seriously, don't worry, what you say is not really true. Appearance matters, but it's not all encompassing.

It's the same as why do girls only care if a guy has muscles, is toned and looks good? And not worried about how smart or what his past is?

I think your going on some major stereotypes... which are probably true at some level. The shallowness that you talk about is our primordial instinct as a human male to choose the best possible partner based on physical health and strength which is indicated by, what we call "beauty". For tens of thousands of years "being smart" hasn't really been a big issue, its only in the past thousand years or so that "intelligence" has become an important factor of survival for humans. Us guys are still working off our caveman instinct. But yeah..You have to know the person better to see into the depths as paradox is getting at.

Us guys are more like public swimming pools than rain puddles. We have a shallow side (when we haven't known you for more than 2 seconds) and we have a deep end (when we've known you for a long time). We may seem shallow at first, but that's because you slapped us and walked off when we hit on you. If we had gotten to know you better, we wouldn't seem so shallow. Most encounters with girls are short. We can see the outside. It is impossible to look at a person and say "Holy crap, she's incredibly smart!" or anything like that. What we CAN tell in about a half a second if they are good looking or not.

Vici is right. You can get a guy with just your brain. When I met my current girlfriend I didn't think she was attractive at all, but we became friends, and after you get to know someone and see how smart and fun they are, the way you see them changes, and now I can't imagine how I wasn't drooling over her when I first met her, because she's the most beautiful girl I've ever seen now. Guys might be shallow at first, but as long as you find one who will give you a chance, and you really do have a great fun personality then he might start to realize how big an idiot he was for not seeing it sooner.

A pretty girl without a brain will get no respect. Guys like different things. I almost have the body of my dreams. Sometimes my man calls me boney, and he's just joking. If he could date a girl that looked like beyonce, he would, as long as her mind was good. I don't think there is any man or boy, that is all the way dogish. you can get the heart of even the stupidest guy, with your mind.
