Update: I had a young Black guy try to use the race card on me.. and I'm Black! That actually happened last month, no lie..    2 months ago

The race card? Um it depends on the situation. I've heard people pull the race card on things that were clearly their fault, but sometimes a situation can actually be racist and then someone says "You're pulling the race card" to justify their own racism. It can happen either way.

I don't think race was an issue with the Kanye/Taylor situation. He always has those outbursts. He just does it because he is narcissistic and no one checks him on his behavior. I don't think he is racist at all, he's just an asshole. I'm a fan of him musically but he has some obvious personal issues.

I haven't heard anyone pull the race card on Kanye West for what he did at the VMAs, just the drunk dumbass card.

I'm white, but I've lived in a predominantly black city my whole life, and going to high school was like walking on eggshells at times. I had classes where the kids were awful (not all of them, but enough of them). They wouldn't do their work, they would just sit there and complain, talk junk to the teacher, play on the computer, etc., and whenever a white teacher called them out on it, the students would make it into a race issue. Everything turned into a race issue. This white kid transferred to my school junior year, and he got along with everyone, but he ended up dropping out before the end of the year because someone made a joke about white people to him, so he made a joke about black people, and everyone turned on him. He could never go anywhere alone because people were always waiting for a chance to jump him, and they would throw food at his friends and slam them into walls...it was bullsh*t. It was okay for the black kids to say stuff about white people all the time, but he couldn't make one joke.

The college I go to is predominantly white, and everyone's afraid to say anything about race because they assume it will be offensive. I think it's as much their fault as the black people who play the race card because they'll let them get away with it. They would rather drop the issue than call someone out on being wrong, which just allows it to continue.

...society p*sses me off lol

Question Asker Political Correctness is a bitch... caint even damn say what you wanna say... - 2 months ago
Camilus I empathize with that last paragraph, and for some reason it's only black people that the white people at college are afraid of talking about/to, not the Latinos or Asians. And whatever you do, when the girl behind the desk in registration asks who did you talk to don't say the "black lady" (even if she is the only one in there)....she looked like she was afraid all the black people around would start a riot, lol - 2 months ago
Answerer I still say what I want to say. I make people at my school uncomfortable haha

And I never refer to a person by race. I've always hated being referred to as "the white girl" so I wouldn't do that to someone else. - 2 months ago

Yup, and I can see why you'd be sick when you see that behavior because lately I've seen a big number of "majorities," mostly the ones that are Christian and Conservative, using their version of a race card...it makes me feel embarrassed for them (not when they are justified, but when they just use it to whine about things).

Answerer Oh, and Kanye West is a big freaking baby with a megalomaniac complex that should just be 86'd from further awards shows. - 2 months ago
Question Asker He should f***in stay in his damn seat- it wasn't his place to step up there and steal sumbody's thunder... that was f***ed up what he did - 2 months ago
Answerer Explanation: http://angrywhitedude.com/?p=92

That site is pretty funny but the dude is serious. In some things he complains about he has a point, but in most cases he turns a benign example into something huge, to the point that it just looks like he is purposefully looking for sh*t to whine about.

I don't know about what happened at the VMAs, but I do have some related thoughts.

Thank you for bringing this up. I am not a minority, but I do believe I see it come up-bad behavior is justified for the underprivileged and minorities. That just doesn't make sense, and it would really bother me if I was a minority.

I think race is very prominent in today's society, and we have a "misrepresented majority". Supposedly America has an equal government that promotes equality. It really bothers me, then, when I see the stamp for Equal Opportunity Employer, and right underneath it says we ENCOURAGE minorities...etc to apply. Equal opportunity means not encouraging certain people based on race to apply.

Our legislation is also supposed to be equal. To me, that should mean that throughout our legislation, race shouldn't even be mentioned. Why, then, does the local Native American community have an exception to the law, and they are able to operate a casino in my state? That means that somewhere in the law, it says specifically that Native Americans are exempt from following the rules.

I think race is being used for the wrong reasons. When President Obama was elected, I remember watching the news, and when they said that he had won, I was extremely happy. I was happy because of my political views, and happy because I was excited that President Obama would be in office. However, when I hear the news reporters celebrate, they say "We did it! We elected the first African-American President!" That thought hadn't even crossed my mind-I saw the entire election through color-blind eyes. Even though they were celebrating an accomplishment, I think it is best to not recognize it, because that would mean we truly defeated racism.

I hope some of you at least find this interesting; I realize I have typed quite a bit.

Yea its basically an attempted "get out of jail free card" that some scum bags love to use. I think guys like Kanye are half of the reason why many have a negative mindset about black Americans.

I think Kanye West has a social disorder that is going untreated.

I'm not completely familiar with his music, but I have watched interviews and many of this outbursts he suffers, and even though I'm not a psychiatrist, I think it's plain to see that he needs professional mental health services.

Many of his outbursts revolve around the idea that someone is doing something out of line, as if there is some sort of order that is suppose to be strictly followed.

To me, that seems like a psychosis of some sort.

Kanye doesn't represent any particular race in these comments. He represents mental illness when it goes untreated.

I wish him the best, and hope he can find the help he clearly needs.

As far as the race card goes, I see many minorities that use race issues or at least the perception of race issues to garner attention to what they are doing.

I think when any one person hijacks a well known issue linked to specific group of people for their own purposes, it is known as exploitation, and should be viewed as such.

However, in the United States people are so sensitive to race issues, that when this happens they choose not to speak up, and people who do this sort of thing know people are not going to say anything, for fear of being labeled something.

I think those that exploit race issues should be treated just like those that promote racism. Because in the end, that's what they are doing anyway.
