My ex asked my best girlfriend what her and I talk about and if I ever talk about him. Him and I have been going back and forth since 7th grade (we're sophomores in high school now). But all of our feelings are left unsaid because our personalities are a lot alike so we both don't like talking about our feelings. And also because they're just intended, meaning we don't have to say things to each other because we already both know that the other person cares. I'm just not sure how much he cares, and him asking my friend isn't something I'd normally think he'd do. We've been going through periods of not talking to each other, just because its awkward. We'll see each other in the hallway and stare at each other but we're both stubborn enough to not be the first one to initiate conversation. He asked her this during one of our no talking periods.
Well it's obvious he still cares I mean of all people he asked your best friend I think that is reason enough that he cares a great deal. He most probably still wants you,and wants to know if you still feel the same way about him, but is stubborn as much as you are. I think you should go break the ice, he made a move by showing that he still cares, now it's your turn.
He asked her because he likes you! Otherwise he wouldn't need to ask your best friend that question! It seems apparent that you guys really have affection for each other, but you are both untrusting; untrusting in the sense that you don't know how much the other person likes you, how much the other person will respect your inner feelings if you open up, or how the relationship might turn out. You are both fearful and it has made you both withdrawn a little bit.
What you should try to do is first, be trusting of him. If you guys are really friends, you would trust each other to be supportive of your feelings - even if it gets awkward, you will make decisions based on what's best for each other. Then you would be confident to talk with him at least like a normal person and not shying away! It's better to do something about it than missing out on what could be a life-changing chance.
