This guy I am dating doesn't like nor do barely any P.D.A because he is afraid someone he knows( like a family friend or something) might see us and then go tell his mother( who hates me and make it really hard on our relationship in every possible way) He is also shy with public displays of affection including kissing or holding hands. Is that normal? When he is alone with me he is totally someone different then when he is out in public or hanging out with me and his friends at the same time. Is this normal and should I just ignore it? I have confronted him about it and he says he is trying but we have been dating for 1 year and 6 months and he still can barely hold my hand in public. Only sometimes. I know he loves me but what should I do about this?

Thats a little odd. That normally implies that he is embarrassed or ashamed of you. That may not be the case but you shouldn't ignore it. He's not really trying if your mutual friends don't know you are dating for a year and a half. - 6 months ago
