I was at the bank, opening a new account and when I was leaving, the attendant asked me which door I was exiting, and got up and opened it for me. And then she said have a good day, I hope to see you again Do all banks do this? Or is it just that bank?
Update: Also when she opened the door, she asked me where I was off to now? are they supposed to do that? I'm new to visiting the bank

I think I am fairly qualified to answer this one [considering I work at a bank]. Is it possible that the attendant was going for lunch break? Or off work? Or was the bank closing? They usually hold open the door in all three cases. If the bank is about to close, it is a polite way to hurry people out. Also, if the attendant was going to the staff room or photocopy room or something, they were already on there way, so decided it would be polite to open the door for you. Maybe they needed to get up and walk around a bit. So they decided to get up and open the door for you. If client's give a large amount of business to the bank, it is customary to let the customer out. Since you are from the US and I am from Canada, their maybe different reasons for the attendant opening the door for you. I am not sure.
That's kind of bizarre. I've never been to a bank that opened the door for me when I left. In fact, I'm not sure I've been anywhere that does that, except for one really nice hotel that I stayed in. Now, most places will tell you to have a good day, hope to see you again and all that, of course. But not opening the door. Then again, most banks that I go to, the teller is behind a desk and the only way out is through the back wall. So, they couldn't open the door for me really, even if they wanted to.
This has never happened to me when I've been to a bank, of course I have lived mostly in large cities and military towns my whole life. Not the pinnacle of courtesy in those areas.
It's possible she was flirting with you, make sure to go back to the bank on the same day next time and see if she does a repeat performance. Or some other day, and see if a second bank employee treats you the same way.
It could just mean a polite manner, you opened a new account there so basically as long as you haven't left the building/bank yet, you are still a customer, her customer and she is supposed to be polite to her customer, she's just doing her job.
I think it's a good sign, it doesn't happen at my bank. My thinking, lol, she could of said "I hope we do business again" instead of "see you again" but that's all apples and oranges, lol. Just ask her what she does for fun, outside of work, and see where it goes from there.
And especially if there was other people present in the bank, and they're not being treated this way, definitely ask her out.
Well, sometimes the conversation would wonder. there was other people in the bank, but none of them were opening a new account. At this bank the tellers are behind windows, and in the main lobby you wait in line for the windows or you can go open a new account - 6 months ago

All I've had ever gotten is a handshake from opening a new account, lol. If you go back and you can make the conversation wander then I would see how much I could flirt with her. You're going to have to talk to her again and see if she was just being hospitable or if she likes you. It sounds like it could go either way. And you can joke around when you make a deposit and say "wow, you guys are really hospitable, opening doors and stuff" and see how the teller reacts. - 6 months ago
I am guessing it is a big bank or a really small bank that appreciates your business. Normally the attendant will try to be more personable by doing these things. After all, you just opened an account, and they might as well have you leave with a good impression. That or the attendant digs you and you should ask her out.
Is this a serious question? If it is then yes most banks do this and not only banks but other places like restaurants, stores, they do that to be polite and to say hey thanks we appreciate your business come back soon.
I totally agree with this comment - I don't think we should read into someone's actions if they are being polite; however, if you want to find out whether she likes you, you could always go back and flirt with her and see what she does - if you're interested in her that is. - 6 months ago
