Is Shyness a Turnoff?

It takes a while for me to open up and get comfortable with new guys. I've always been shy. Since I've gotten older, I've learned to be pretty friendly at parties and to love meeting new people. A lot of times I get dates with guys and the small talk is great and even the first date goes well, but then my shy side returns when I start to feel more like I like the guy. I think this is a turnoff to guys. How can I let them know that they have a great girl who just needs time to get comfortable? Is it worth it to guys to keep trying with a girl like me, or do they only want the super-chatty girls?

When you start to feel yourself clamming up, it could be as simple as directly telling them, "Sometimes, when I start to like a guy, I get really shy." If you're open and honest with them, they'll understand you much better.

Think about it from the perspective of the guy. "Everything went well on the first few dates, but then she stopped talking to me. Maybe she realized she doesn't like me."

I think what you are describing is quite normal; it happens to all of us to varying degree. I don't think it's a turnoff to everyone; it depends on the particular person, guys or girls. What is important is for you to figure out what is going through your mind exactly when you start "to feel more like I like the guy" and how to overcome the shyness if that bothers you.

Advice: How Can I Look More Confident?
Does it ever annoy you that you're single?
random-ren asked 18 days ago

Yes, most of the time! I really wish I had a boyfriend/girlfriend!

A little, because I feel left out.

Not really...

Nope! I have too much fun being single!

What's there to be annoyed about?

What is your favorite outfit for a night out with friends?
What I wear obviously depends on where we would be going! I don't have one particular style. If I'm going to walk around the boardwalk, I will look beachy. If I am going ballroom dancing, I will look the part. No matter what, I always dress with class out of respect for myself. No matter how much I love mini skirts, I will not wear one bowling lol. =]

How do you style your hair and do your make-up?
I have a million ways to do my hair! I have long, naturally curly, blonde hair. I can either straighten it, leave it curly, or make it wavy. I can put it up in a quick messy bun, french braids, high ponytail, low ponytail, leave it down, etc....whatever I feel like!

I like to keep my makeup natural looking unless the occasion calls for a special look. Like prom, for example.

Do I have style?
