A guy in one of my classes doesn't say hi, doesn't sit near or anything.from the side it looks like we don't even know each other. I feel ignored.
yet online, we talk like buddies.
split personality much? I just don't get it
Update: maybe he is shy, but so am I he sits far so I can only talk after class, but he leaves and walks away without even glancing back, and because I have my other friend who more clingy I can't ditch her to go and talk with him. I don't even know what to say

i used to like this girl back in 8th grade. but that was when I was unbelievably shy. I would freeze up in front of her when in person. but when I talked to her online I always knew what to say and was comfortable talking to her. approach him and don't act too confident because it will make him nervous. the only way you will talk in person is if you approach him. go for it.
I guess you're right...but what can I say? I mean if I just say hi and he says hi..then nothing just awkward silence..i need a reason to march over to him and say something..but I don't know what >.< (when I met him actually I would ask questions and he would only answer like yes or no type answers until the "convo" just died and I asked for his contact info to be note buddies or w/e..so I don't want that to repeat having an awkard silence after the hi) - 3 months ago

You are in his class so just talk about that. if the conversation continues to always die then just ask him why he is so talkative online but so quiet in person - 3 months ago
Well he's probably shy. Shy people have trouble interacting with others in-person, but online it's much easier for them to interact.
Or, he doesn't want people to know he talks with you. He's trying to preserve some kind of personal image which would be destroyed if people found out he talked to you.
i def. agree with the other answers. A lot of people can be really talkative over the internet but in person they can freeze up, but yeah you should say hi or smile and act really friendly and see what he does
