I got some tax money back, so I thought I'd buy my boyfriend a ps3. I know he has been wanting one for a long time. When he opened the present he was like thank you, but I want a 60 gb one, not a 40 gb. I said fine and he could change it, but he felt guilty and opened it anyway. I told him he shouldn't because he would regret it. He now regrets opening it and says it's all my fault because I made him feel guilty! Now he can't exchange it and walks around grumpy. I wish I had never bought him a present! What should I do? I feel horrible. It was supposed to be a nice surprise. Please help me xx
Tell him to stop whining because he can upgrade the hard drive whenever he wants. He can actually upgrade to a 250 gb drive for LESS money than the 60gb version would've cost. So you actually did him a FAVOR.
So you shouldn't feel bad -- but make sure you realize that you're dating an inconsiderate ingrate.

A 60 gb compared to a 40... your boyfriend seems like an idiot seriously, he's not happy with what he got. And that 20 GB would never make a difference.
I completely agree with Marisa. If I was that guy that you gave the gift to I would be pretty damn happy. To me it's the thought that counts, not the gift given. The fact my girlfriend thought of me and spent her hard earned money on me would make me feel like I am something special to her.
You know what... your gift was awesome and he needs to appreciate what he got and stop being such an ass about it. Tell him to take money out of his pocket and buy a 60gb. He should appreciate that it was a gift from you and he needs to grow up and stop the childish grumpy act. I wouldn't ever deal with that. And don't feel bad. It's not your fault you tried your best to surprise him!
Well, if you did intentionally make him feel guilty for bitching about a perfectly great gift, then I guess you could feel responsible for him actually opening the box.
If I were you, however, I'd take the PS3 40 GIG and give it to a nephew or a friend's kid that would actually appreciate it and let him save up to buy his own 60 GIG. His attitude sucks. Hopefully he's not like this all of the time otherwise he's in for a miserable life. He can't even be happy that you invested your hard-earned tax return into a toy for him when you could have used it for bills or gifts for yourself. And now he's trying to make you feel bad?! WTF
