New atmosphere. New situation. He is around all his buddies and is trying to be cool in front of them and act like he doesn't have to have anything to do with a girl. Guys act differently around their friends in front of you and in new contexts. Go up and talk to him and see what he does and how he reacts. If he is an ass then let him go. Or ask him what is up/wrong

Maybe you were the only girl he was able to hang out with during the summer but when school started, he wanted to avoid you so that other girls don't think he's takend.
