Months ago I went out with co-workers to a bar. A man who is a manager at the grocery store I go to was also there. We noticed each other, and we waved at each other. Later the waitress brought me a drink that he ordered for me. As my friends and I were leaving, I hung around and said thank you to him and he asked if I like that bar etc. and that he and his coworkers were there every Friday. He also mentioned that he hadn't seen me shopping at his store in a while. I explained why and then left. This was the first time he has ever spoken to me besides "do you need help finding anything?" whenever I run into him at the grocery store.
Now every time I go shopping and he is there, he asks me when I will go back to that bar. He says "I'm there on Fridays but I never see you". I am not sure why he doesn't ask for my number or ask to see me at the bar, he just mentions that he's there and doesn't see me. I have explained to him before that I don't go there often. He seems nice, but I am not attracted to him. He is older so I assume he would know how to get to the point. I want to tell him I am not interested without hurting his feelings but I feel that I am assuming he wants something more, which it would be awkward if that wasn't his motive.
So does this guy like me? And what should I do to diffuse the situation?

Update: Today I ran into him again (in the dairy section lol) and he came up to me. He asked where I was on Friday and I said "I was out of town with my boyfriend". He ended the conversation and excused himself. I felt guilty, but I hope this ends it, thanks.    11 months ago

I think he does like you but you are in a situation that you have to see him when you go shopping and do not want to create any hard feelings. Time for a little itty bitty incy white lie. Tell him the reason you don't go there often is because you are usually with your boyfriend. This will get him to back off. If not you are going to have to tell him that you are not interest, but I don't think it will come to that. Give it a try. Good luck.

DeanW I agree - that's the best way to let him know you're unavailable without making it a personal thing about him. - 11 months ago
