Does trying to make a guy jealous ever work?

Question

Does making a guy jealous backfire every time? Does it work for most people? Does it give them the thrill of a chase. or just make them give up on the girl?

To tell you the truth I really don't get jealous, I get frustrated sometimes but it's not the same a jealousy.  One of the things that makes me the most frustrated and irritated is when I know someone is trying to make me jealous or play other mind f**k games.  Usually at that point I decide for myself weather they are worth my time or not.  If I decide they are then I will take them aside and explain that the stupid little game they are playing isn't helping their cause at all and if they want to continue with it they are more than welcome to but that I wouldn't around when they are done.  As for the one's that I figure aren't worth wasting my breath on, well most of the time I just walk away and if they call and persist then I tell them straight out what I took issue with.  The way I see it life is too short and time too precious to waste any of it on the drama of stupid people or childish games!

to be honest, jealousy can actually work

BUT ONLY DO IT ONCE.

i can't stress that enough

when its apparent that the guy is getting a little bored, the first use of jealousy can drive him to realize what he might be missing out on

but overdoing it will definitely lead to some heartache

Jealousy does work on a long term relationship. I hear you ask why play games and not just find someone else? Well, because sometimes you have too much to lose to just go find someone else - you may have built a life together with house, kids, etc. But he's stopped desiring you. So you don't want to lose what you have together but the passion is gone... he may get angry that you've made him jealous, but in doing so he will start desiring you again and will put up with being made to feel jealous because he doesn't want to lose all those other things either.

actually it does to some extent...if it is obvious you're using bob to make jim jealous he's just gonna see it as immature...if your accdental about it then yes it works...but the guy doesn't show it

My guy friends say it sucks. Oh, and practice what you preach boys.  Don't try to make us ladies jealous either, it gets soooooooooooooo old, and we will just move on to something better.

Depends on the guy. For me personally, if you want to make me not trust you, cause more problems in our relationship, make me cheat on you, or make me leave you, purposely trying to make me jealous is the number one way to do it. Nowadays though I won't stay long enough to be able to cheat on you I'll just leave. Even if we're just dating I most likely won't stick around or I'll tell you to cut that shit out or I'm gone. Why intentionally try to hurt somebody who who likes or loves and cares about you and took time out of their life to devote to you and invited you into their life? Every guy is different but try this at your own risk if you want. There's better ways to get a mans attention and interest like oohh I dunno, TALKING TO HIM. Get dolled up, have a busy life so you're not always available when he wants you to be. There's no shortcuts to relationships you gotta put the work in. There's always a negative trade-off when you take shortcuts.

I realize this is a pretty old question but if you are still curious for another answer, it works to an extent that it'll make him feel like crap and inadequate. After that, it's game on. Two can play at that game...although I've been big enough to not fireback and just walk away. Maybe you can answer me this. What are reasons girls would want to make a guy who is clearly into her jealous? For fun, or just for reassurance or...?
