Ok, this always gives me trouble, and I usually end up not doing it or I do and make an ass out of myself. If you meet someone at their work, is it ok to ask them out? Where else are you going to meet them again, right?
I try to avoid it though, because the girl will basically be trapped. She can't leave work just to avoid my question. It isn't really playing fair.
What do you all think about it? Had any experiences?
I manage a women's shoe store and have had guys come in and hit on me. I have also been asked out by other friends/coworkers in the mall (a guy working at the starbucks asked me out a while back when I went for coffee) I don't think it's rude unless it happens at a busy time. So if I am on the phone placing orders or with customers, not a good time to ask me for a number. But if you come back later on when it's dead, I don't have a problem with it. It does force me to make a split second decision, and I am less likely to flirt back, which depends on if there are other employees around or if it's just me on the sales floor.
If the person works in a restaurant, it's a little more difficult (because they don't get a "down time"). I actually have a crush on a waiter now, and I have no idea how to get his attention. If you have any ideas or experience with that, please let me know! Good luck!
