My question is can a guy actually change when he says he will stop drinking? Can you guys tell me? This guy I like told me he won't drink anymore more but once he went to this party he drank there!. Now will he change? Will he ever change? Or should I just move on and get a life?

Change could happen, only if the guy is really serious about it, or if he has a life threatening issue; however, if he is into the party scene, he won't stop. All depends on age, what goals he has, etc. If he has no real goals, I would say most likely he won't stop drinking so best to move on.

People never really "change". The difference is, they learn control. Everyone is human and loses control sometimes. But it is up to you to evaluate your situation and to realize if you want to deal with your guy losing control as much as he does/doesn't. Look at the picture in the long run. Are you going to be happy if things stay the way they are right at this very moment?

Yeah - anyone can change if they want. There is no way to make someone change and have a positive result. Reason being - if they don't want to change and you make them change, they are going to be miserable.

If it really bothers you that he drinks then there is no point in putting yourself in a position where you are going to be upset constantly. From my experience "I'm not going to drink anymore" means - "I'm not going to drink as much as I used to. And hopefully you'll be happy with that".

All in all - yes I guy can change: if they want and usually once they mature.
