I guess I'll start with how we broke up in the first place. My ex and I broke up in November. We have been friends for approximately eight years, went to school together, and dated for five months. It wasn't that long, but I broke up with him in November basically because things were moving too fast, he had already said he loved me which put me in an unsettling position. He moved back to our hometown for me when he was an hour away at school, which I did not ask him to do. His priorities were completely wrong, and it seemed as if his obsession with bodybuilding was controlling his life. Everything else came below this hobby.

In the last month of our relationship, I was a complete bitch to him, to put it bluntly. I guess I thought that if I was mean to him it would push him farther away, but it didn't. He stayed right next to me through it all. So then I ended it.

We just started talking again about a month ago. While we were broken up, I was able to figure out if I really did have feelings for him or not, and I came to the realization that I really do care about him. A lot. So after we started talking again, I told him that I still have feelings for him. He said he didn't know if he could trust me, especially with the way I treated him. I completely agree with him, but recently it seems like he's been playing cat and mouse with me. He told me that he doesn't know if he's ready for a relationship, then he said he was scared, then he said he has so much going on in his life right now. Sometimes he talks to me sometimes he doesn't. He keeps making plans with me to hang out and then he breaks them last minute. I don't know what to do because he's been doing this for a month now and he won't flat out tell me what he's feeling.

I know I need to give him time, but why would he twist my chain? Every possible option has gone through my mind. Please give me some insight and let me know if this seems like a hold on or move on situation.

Didn't you twist his chain in the hugest way possible? The poor guy is probably conflicted as hell about the whole thing. He's got no idea whether or not he should go back with this girl who he'd obviously really liked, but who turned in to a huge bitch at the end. He's not sure if you're going to flake out on him and break his heart again or not.

You're gonna have to let him make up his mind in his own time, and if you try to force his hand, you're only going to reinforce that bitch attitude from before.
