My boyfriend of 7 months broke up with me because we fought all the time.
He got a new girlfriend only a week later.
While we where together he never did anything bad, such as drugs or drinking.

Now he is changing a lot and he dyed his hair black, and he's doing drugs and drinking, I am so scared because I know he is such a good person and that he has so much potential.

What can I do?

And don't just tell me to move on.

I want advice other than that please.

You can try confronting him. Speak to him in a loud, assertive manner about all your worries. Unfortunately, something like this will likely have to run its course. He's lashing out and self-medicating for some reason, I'm not sure why, but more often than not there's nothing we can do. Breaking through someone's self-defense mechanism takes months of training and effort and knowledge and a natural affinity towards it, so really, for most people helping others like him won't help.

You can also try being calm and caring to him if being assertive doesn't work, though assertive behavior usually helps breach someone's self-defense mechanisms.

Question Asker But how can you be assertive without trying to hard or being rude?? - A month ago
Answerer The only way to be rude is to be mean I think. All you do is raise your voice and project it outwards so you can truly exclaim how you feel about his changes and how much you think it's hurting him. - A month ago
