He broke up with me almost 2 months, together for slightly more than 3 years. I think he's probably thought of breaking up for sometime, but it was an argument which caused the breakup. He's got himself a girlfriend less than 2 weeks after breaking up, but some friends question the "existence" of this girl. As of lately, he gets upset when I don't answer his calls or his texts, or to his IM's and over the weekend, he texted to ask why I was ignoring him.
I said I wasn't and that I was busy, and if he has nothing important to say, to have a nice day *smiley* and he just replied "sucky day" followed by "wanna say you're still the best", he said this 3 weeks ago too. What was that all about? That night he texted asking if I was free and that he'd be at the mall. I already had plans. He said I was just trying to ignore him. He also texted his best friend that night, asking him if it would be a good idea to get back together with me.
Today we met up for a drink and apparently he just wanted to know if I was "fine" and mentioned that I seem, and will be better off without him cos he's f***ed up. After he sent me home, I texted telling him I hope he was ok and to let me know if there was anything wrong. He replied "Rather not drag you into it. Lousy life". What is going on?
Update: That night I had my msn msg set to "seek those with your best interests at heart". He late came online and IMed me, "you ok?", like he really wanted to show he cared.

Update: He went out his friend and this friend asked about the text he sent him regarding getting back together with me. My ex just replied "typed wrongly". Huh? It has MY NAME on it.

Sounds like to me that he had another girlfriend and that he fell fast for her and she did him wrong. So now he is caught up between you, a good girl and still getting over the other girl. I have been there before and felt the same way. Don't ignore him because he needs you and maybe still likes you. He is confused.
He is just leading you on. When a guy doesn't know what you are up to it makes them wonder if you have found someone else. They don't like that. He sounds like a jerk and is confused. Move on. I know it's easier said then done, but he apparently has a new girl. So, go find a new guy.
