What does in shape mean?

I recently met someone online. I asked him to describe the girl he is normally attracted to and he used the words "in shape". This is fairly vague to me. I play recreation sports several nights a week and I completed a half marathon... But I am not a size 6. What is considered in shape? Is it your size or bmi or what? Need a guys' opinion on this.

First of all, are you in the UK or in the US? A size 6 in the UK is like a size 4 US. I would guess he means that he wants a girl with a BMI within the healthy range, i.e. not obese. Shape-wise, maybe a UK size 10-12 or below, US size 8 or below.

However, why are you letting him dictate to you what size you should be? You're clearly sporty and healthy, and that's what matters. You sound like a beautiful and vibrant person in your own right, and he should think himself lucky to date a woman like you, not be presenting you with a list of desirable attributes! Change yourself only when you want to, not to fulfil the fantasies of someone you just met! You deserve to be loved just as you are.

In shape would likely mean, not bulging. looking healthy, not so much as being able to take on a 4 mile hike. Being in shape can can also take the other extreme, too scrawny is also not attractive either. Basically, looking healthy is key. Likely what he is referring to is not wanting anybody who drinks 64oz pops, several bags of chips, and nothing else and claims to be dieting because she had nothing else.

Seems not you if you play sports and run half marathons...

Guys can be attracted to a wide range of figures. What they really crave is a healthy look, which is not someone bulging and weighing more than the guy,
