It could be that they don't commit because they think the women will give it up to anyone else who makes an effort to get into her pants. Why commit to someone who is just going to run around having sex?
Consider where you are finding these guys too. The bar scene doesn't work too well for the majority of people.
I am not talking about cheating. I am talking about when men and woman meet, woman think nothing of giving it up on a first date or quickly. The problem is we create intimacy before we get to know one another. Woman take it as a sign that this guy must really like me and very quickly she finds out that yes, he like sleeping with me but he is not interested in being my exclusive boyfriend. I disagree. I think women are becoming less and less committal because its acceptable for them to have sex more freely now. Men were no more committal 50 years ago as they are today, yes they may have been more married men, but they weren't committed to their wives. Now women don't have to put up with cheating.
I don't think this is gender specific. My boyfriend and I are in an open relationship. Neither of us are sleeping with other people, we just like the fact that we have no rules.
I don't think it's any more common today than it was in the past.
