What's the bigger mistake: going for it or wonder what would've happened?

I haven't seen him in months and he's coming back in a few weeks for ONE SINGLE week. He and I have been talking nonstop for the past week and now I can't get him out of my head.Seriously, he is slowly becoming the single most important person in my life and I can't get enough of him. We've always got along really great and through textin and calls, I've really gotten to know who he is, rather than "god he's hot!"

We used to like each other but that went to poop because he chose another girl over me (granted though, that they went out for a year while we would've probably gone out for like a month). Anyways, years later I'm starting to like him again, and want to know which is the bigger mistake:go for it for a week or wonder what would've happened. Please give me any and all insight that you guys have. Thanks :D

Update: I realize that my firs option was a little vague. What I mean is, go for it and possibly ruin one of the greatest friendships because I know I could fall for him really hard, or wonder what couldve happened for a long time.    3 months ago

This is actually easy at least for me since I'm not involved. LOL. Sorry I'm not trying to make light of the situation but here's the thing You don't want to live your life with regrets. You just don't. It really is that simple. If this is something you feel that strongly about then life dictates you go for it.

If your friendship is that great then it will survive even if you go for it. Will it change? Sure, but its going to change anyway. IF you two don't workout you'll find other people and so things will change no matter what. Change is inevitable. But I honestly believe a friendship that strong can survive going for it.

Of course you're going to have to handle how you go for it but its usually easier if you're good friends anyway. Just bring it up casually and see if he's even interested in having the conversation.

Go for it. NO REGRETS!

Which would you regret more? Jeopardizing a friendship or passing up a relationship?

From what you say, it sounds like the relationship would only last one week anyways, right?

Why do you think the friendship would be ruined anyways? How is going on a couple dates going to destroy that?

You could just hang out with him and go with the flow.

Tell him how you feel. I was head over heels for my best friend for about 3 or 4 years. Then one day, I told him how I felt. He told me I was more like a little sister to him, but nothing got ruined. If anything, we're closer then ever now

I dwell on the past. A lot. So for me, the bigger mistake is going for it. I would rather wonder what could've been than think about how I got hurt.
