Hi, I'm dating a girl, going on my third date, and I am unsure as to whether or not I should get her something (small). We had been friends for a while, but she admitted that really liked me. Well, I went out of town not too long ago, and thought of her, and got her something small. She really liked it, and "asked me out." She got me something in return.
On our second date, again, I got her something small, along with a handmade card that she said "was so sweet it made her cry".
Its coming up on my third date with her; but I am afraid to be put into the "thanks but no thanks-nice guy" category. What should I do, get her something/do something small again, or lay off this time and make it random from here on out?
Generally, I think gifts are a bad idea for the first two months or so of dating a new person. The only exception to me is birthday or christmas -- but still make it a small gift.

Gifts too soon can make you look like you're too eager to please, or a pushover. Sort of like you're trying to buy her love rather than build it gradually. - More than a year ago

Maybe get her something for Christmas and give it to her around Christmas or say this is your Christmas present. I would lay off on the gifts for every date. That just gets old and predictable, so I would make it random, which would make it more special.

No... don't get her something... instead... what I would do is show her how much she means to me... ! Show her that you adore her... show her that your there for as a friend in sad time and good times... show her that you are the man for her. I'm not going to tell you how ...
