Is he a "Player"?

Yes they can, I get called that all the time, it's mainly how you act around the girls, if you don't talk, don't make eye contact, and are boreing then women will see this and right off the bat know that he's not a player. Now if the guy is confident in the way he talk, walks and acts, and has attracted many women around him, and isn't trying to impress any of them, but is very flirtacious, even if he isn't really a player they always assume that he is. What I do is simply don't drool over a certain girl and make it obvious, I almost ignore the one I really want and this makes the girl wonder why I am not talking to her but to all her friends and she comes over to me and wants the attention, now keep in mind you have to give her some attention, but not a whole lot because you don't want her to lose interest in you, and when she comes up to you give her some attention and then push her away( not literally ppl). This makes her come right back to you. I never ever talk about sex in a conversation unless one of them brings it up. Basically if you act like your not looking for sex they will let their bitch guard down and open up to you more. At this point, I then take the girl that I like by the hand and either say something like its ok you can hold my hand, or I just simply grab it and then I take her off to a quiet place and I will ask if her friends want to join, usually they don't but if they do, I sit next to the girl that I like and I then start to flirt with her, put my hand on her leg or tickle her, make fun of something she's wearing not in a mean way but a playful way. Then I proceed to win over the friends, and when you do this they say something like we have to go the bathroom, aka talk about the guy and then they come back and they say something like you should talk to our friend more. There you go won over the friends the battle is half over, now for the number, I never ever ask can I have your number, I say let me get your number, they give it to me and then I say hey this better not be the number to pizza hut, and she laughs and says no no its not I promise, once I put the number in my phone,I immediately call it and when her phone rings I say yup your right it's not pizza hut. And then if I like the girl I tell her that next weekend I am taking you out to dinner. I usually wait oh I don't know a day or so and then call, and then go on the date, its pretty simple, or sometimes they come back to my place that night or I go to hers. Now if they call you player, I don't get all worried like most guys, I say yup I am, I'm a pretty good poker player.

I could be off base here but I've always seen players as being those who attract quite a few women....usually because of their looks and/or personality. Because they have quite a selection to draw from, they tend not to stay with any particular woman. As a player friend of mine once said....you don't bring sand to the beach.

As others have said here, you can't tell a player by looking at them....you have to view his actions over a period of time.

Based on my female friend's experience, they can tell a player by what they tell you . And vibes too . Females are a bit more attuned to their intuitive side .
But most players will say something like they like you, but right now they cannot have a committed relationship, but they still want to go out and have fun . Of course they tend to be on the outgoing side for the most part, and they do tend to have a lot of so called female friends; many times their motto is, the more females you know, the better your chances of increasing your pool of sex candidates cause if you can't get the girl you want, then you go for their friends . :D

Anyone who claims the ability to spot a player just by looking at them is a fool . It is similar in judging the quality of a man based on how tall he stands or quality of a woman based on the size of her boobs . The only way you can tell is how they act . I say "they" because both men AND women are players .

In personality signals they can be goofy or quite serious but one triat that is genuine is that a player is consistent . Once they start, they don't stop with just one time . They can be very slick and good with lies with you: claiming you are the love of their life and so on but at the same time saying such words to others . In techniques is where I think you can spot a player the best . If you can catch them in lies such as claiming to be with family when they are out chasing others instead . Another good one is how they act in public . If they are looking at others(called oodle), it's ok but if they are flirting and being a bit too friendly, then something is clearly wrong and should take warning .

The best way is to have friends . Sometimes they can ruin a good relationship but they can also tell you if your partner is a loser . You can't be with your partner all the time but they will always be out in the open . All it takes is one mistake and your friends will let you know if he's playing the field . But don't jump to conclusions as friends can also make honest mistakes .

It's quite possible that this boy is genuine and honest . A handsome athlete can go for a very long time without a lover due to high standards of devotion to their goals . There is also the fear of pregnancy and getting "trapped" . But I would not judge this man so quickly until it's proven he's a player .

If he doesn't talk about girls, it could totally be possible maybe he's shy and doesn't get around with girls all that much ? Its rare, but I've met gorgeous guys who don't know they are so good looking and are just shy; either that or its their personality, whether they know they look good or not .
the truth is, you can't judge someone by how they look . My friend dresses, well, kind of slutty . Okay, really slutty . One look at her and you'd think she's a whore . Truth is, she gets the best grades in our class and is still a virgin . Just goes to show . You can't know; you have to learn from past experiences and their personality .

You can't tell it a person is a player or not by their looks . Believe me, I had a first hand experience at this . I got together with this guy and he dumped me 11 days later . Later, I found out that he was a player and had 5 girlfriends before me . I didn't notice anything weird when we were together that could indicate that he was a player .
