Crushing over an older guy and what should I do?

Hi!

I'm 23 going on 24 later this year. I have a huge crush on one of my ex colleagues who is about 10-11 years my senior. We weren't exactly working in the same physical location so we did not know each other personally.

Before I left the company,i spurred up the courage to confess my feelings for him in a card. It wasn't totally aggressive more like "hey I'm a big fan of you! " We did not contact each other after. About a month later, we had a group gathering as we had common friends and colleagues.

During this gathering,i was so extremely shy that I could not even look up to face him or talk to him. The only one time I did,he gave me a smile. We also got to know each other better personally cos everyone had their rounds.

After the entire event,i phone text him to apologize for not talking to him at all the entire night but I did promise to when I get a grip of myself. Just told him how very silly I am when in front of people that I have special feelings for and I wanted to make it very clear that I was not expecting any reciprocation in feelings when I told him that I liked him. I also apologize for making this situation very uneasy for him and that I do hope he meets someone really nice for himself (cos I found out he was heartbroken for some 9 years! )

We have not spoken since which is expected but without a doubt we 'd meet up for social gatherings in future.

I don't think he's interested in me but I can't be too sure as I don't know how older men think. But how would a normal men react to my actions and what is the right thing that should I do from now on?
