I am 22 and I find that a lot of younger guys tend to be attracted to me. I have been told that I am very confident, independent, wise, and responsible. Often the 'advisor' and 'organizer' among my group of friends.

When I say young, they are usually 18 - 20. I have always thought that these guys prefer girls who are younger (so 16 -18). What's the attraction? Specifically for guys between the ages of 18-20 and college aged women?

I find it rather puzzling!

Men actually like women who are mature or have a sense of independence. Sure guys are always attracted to women who are younger than them but they will always look to women who have had more experiences than they have had because they find it more appealing. A woman's body actually becomes more appealing over time but women don't see it the way men do. I'm 26 and a few years ago I dated a woman of 40. Besides the sex being amazing, we actually were able to talk about deeper subjects that women my age are not interested in talking about. The reason we broke up was because she kept hinting to me that she wanted to get married. AND I kept telling her that I didn't want to be get married until my early 30s. We still keep in touch and call each other sometimes to just talk about every day things that women my age have no interest in.

Well, I think it happens the other way around as well.

If I say that anyone has had a crush on me, the cruel cosmic joke is that it's usually girls around the age of 12; and with me not being a pervert and all, I'm not interested in anyone under the age of 19.

I think the girls in their early teens see some things about who I am that most "more mature girls" refuse to see.

I think they see that I'm a hardworking man who's trying to get a career up and going, and doing it on my own. I'm creative and unique, and that doesn't automatically make me a creep. They see me as a guy who's great with kids. Plus, I've got a car, I can stay up late, and I don't have school. I can go to a bar if I want. Part of it, perhaps, is that I'm unattainable to them; and I don't play games, so I MUST be pretty awesome.

With me, for whatever reason, they see the positives as positives; and, again, for whatever reason, they're not as quick to turn those positive traits into negative ones.

Also, because I'm not interested, I can be the fun guy who doesn't seem to care what anyone (actually, I could care less what anyone THEIR age) thinks.

I could care less about impressing some 12 year old, and I can be funny and yet call them out on stuff when they pull something bad, because I'm not scared of them or what they'll think. I'm an adult; I've got a bit of authority and independence, but I'm not as old as their parents, and I don't think like their parents. That makes me seem cooler.

Lastly, one of them might actually think I'm kind of cute in the looks department; so add that all up, and I'm practically James Dean to them.

I just turned 30 and I am currently seeing a 21 year old guy. I was married for pretty much my whole life (since I was 18). I find guys my age have already experienced all the things that I missed out on. They are ready to settle down and find that "right" girl. I, on the other hand, am looking to out and have fun.
The guy I am seeing is young but he works very hard and is a really nice guy. I can't really tell you why he is into me. I know he thinks I am sexy and he likes that I know what I want and go for it.
Other than that, who knows. For a long time guys all wanted younger women, it is an evolutionary thing. Guys see youth as fertility. I think that (forgive me for bringing this up) Ashton and Demi helped change that a little. Now there are a lot of public couples that are different in ages (guy younger). Now the newer generation is seeing that and it will help to change perceptions. I have been called a cougar because I am seeing this younger guy, but my friend is 21 and she is dating a guy that is 30 and no one gives them a hard time.

Some younger guys like older women for their maturity level. They want a confident woman. I'll be 27 and I dated a guy that was 24. We fell in love, but he ended up lying and cheating on me. The problem was that he wasn't where I was in life and I wanted more and he didn't know what he wanted. He battled with trying to make me happy and what he wanted out of life. I'm still very hurt, but I know I have to move on. I will not be dating any younger men in the future.
