I've been told by my male friends that one of the top signs a guy really digs you is when he teases you. Why do you guys tease? I mean. we girls don't really get a kick out of it. except when you're doing it because we know you like us. How is teasing showing affection?! What's the logic behind it?
I personally tease and throw in a few slight negative remarks most of the time as a joke to get your attention.
Imagine this scenario where we just met somehow and I am about to loose your attention and I say "Hey your nose twitches when you laugh. weird" . That will immediately get your attention and depending on your reaction I would add "but it's really cute and I like it".
Every girl has heard a guy oggling over her telling how beautiful she is blah blah blah. but guys who want to differentiate themselves do it in subtle ways.
Is that the kind of teasing you meant or just plain cruel teasing? Because if it's just plain cruel teasing then I have no explanation apart from those guys don't know what they are doing, does it even attract you?
Nah it's the "kid" teasing, except sometimes he'll put me on the spot/"pick on me" in front of a crowd and he knows I take it lightheartedly... to make sure, he usually is nice to me in the halls after that -- raising his hand at me, nodding, etc.
Someone told me it's to relieve the stress, because humor takes away the nerves. That could make sense too... - 6 months ago

I was reading up a bit on this phenomenon specially with teenage kids. It's usually a sign of immaturity where a male feels threatened by his feelings towards a female and manifests itself in this manner. Whereby a male feels weakened specially in front of his friends and hence acts it out by say putting you on the spot. I don't really know why we do it, but it is a sign of interest. Sometimes we tease maybe because we don't know what to say. As for showing affection I think it shows we have taken notice of the little things about you. Like if I teased you about a necklace you were wearing it would show that I am paying attention to you because I am noticing something insignificant about you. That's just my opinion though.
