I have to agree with nobodygirl. You don't really like him, so you have to let him know in a nice way. However, what women don't commonly understand is that most guys don't want to be 'friends', and when a girl talks about being 'friends' some guys think that she thinks like him... 'She must like me too if we are friends'. You have to tell him that you can't be his friend for a while, give him a chance to cool his jets, and stick with it. Don't be afraid to lose a friend... Have you been trying to tell him you don't like him that way? If not try to drop a few hints. And if he still doesn't get it, try telling him directly. Just tell him he is awesome but he is not your type but he is a good friend. It will hurt him but keep talking to him like you're a friend. If it doesn't work out then there's always restraining orders (lol jkng). Hope it works out.

Chill with him once then be sure to stress that you just want to be friends and don't want to get into a relationship.

Make it clear you only like him as a friend. When you talk, make sure your body language isn't flirty. Talk about what a good friend he is; better yet, talk about your crush.
