Would a Girl ever ask a guy to dance

The fear of rejection is a powerful thing, for girls as well as guys. If I like a guy but I'm afraid he would turn me down, I might ask one of my guy friends to go instead.

Of course, if the guy I'm interested in -is- a friend, then I am safe to ask him. If he likes me back and wants it to be a date, it could become a date. If not, I can just pretend that I never intended it to be such and I just want to go as friends. Hence, why it's much safer for a girl's ego and self-esteem to ask a male friend rather than an acquaintance she has a crush on.

And jayne is right. Girls will often have several "potentials" at any one time, but if one starts to show an interest in her, she will focus her attention on that guy. She won't necessarily drop the others, but they'll get a lot less attention than the one that seems to be a better bet.

Yes, a girl would ask a guy she's only friends with to a dance. However, if she does only have friendly feelings for the guy he would most likely be one of her best friends. If it was a guy she wasn't as close with, say, just on an acquaintance or normal-friend level, then there's a really really really good chance she likes him.

Just like guys, girls can like more than one person. However, if one of the people she likes starts liking her back, she will forget about the others and pursue that one guy instead.

If she asked you to a dance and you're not best friends, then she probably likes you.
