How can the universe be expanding, it makes nooo sense?

Kind of like the world wide web keeps expanding...how can it expand if it is already "world wide?"

Seriously though...the universe is not everything God is...he created it. Prob. not what your science teacher espouses though so don't go with that.

Infinity is everything...not the universe...the universe can infinitely expand.

Most likely scientist will continue to make new discoveries beyond anything previously known, so there concept of the universe is expanding

There are some thoughts...I just ask you to keep in mind that I got a C in most science classes!

I assume someone else has already noted that the alternative makes no sense either. If the universe was finite, what is at its edge? How does it end? I think this is one of the fun questions that gives you a sense of the brain's comprehension of God. Imagining limitless space or limitless time - or trying to imagine what is at the edge - gets all the neurons firing, but an answer is unlikely to be forthcoming.

Think about it for a while and then forget it. There is a Zen word, mu, that basically translates to "unask the question, parameters too broad." By which I mean that the answer to the question is simply outside the range of the question itself. A common Zen question used as an example is "Does a dog have Buddha Nature?" Well, a yes or no - and its implications - goes so far beyond the question's meaning (maybe) as to render it unfit for response.

Eh I don't think that he can really claim that the universe is expanding because I think the universe has an undetermined size, so we wouldn't really know if its expanding or not. I'm not sure what he means neither.
