So we all know the dilemma of a date movie. Girls want a romantic comedy but guys think they're a little lame, and wouldn't want to get caught watching them. (Yes, these are generalizations. Just play along).
My question is: Which movie is the perfect movie that involves love and romance so the girl is happy, but isn't too sugar sweet and sappy for the guy to enjoy it, too?
[My answer is Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, because it involves love and flirting and relationships, but does it in a real-world approach rather than fairy-tale romances. Then it also gets really interesting by exploring whether it's a positive thing to have the heartbreak of a lost relationship, or if it would be best to forget about it completely. Great stuff. ]
If she really likes you it won't matter what your watching and if you like her it shouldn't matter either girls have friends to see movies with if we go with guys it's more about the guy then the movie we're interested in but sitting threw a movie she wants to see would get you some bonus points.
Well I love eternal sunshine of a spotless mind! Um, well I personally don't like chick flicks I'd watch die hard any day for sure, but um.. well Chicago is good I guess. And you can never really go wrong with a Jim Carrey movie( as long as it's comedy)
Personally, it doesn't matter to me what movie I go see as long as I'm with my guy. I mean true, us girls like our romance, but we also like a little action and suspense. And if the movie is a scary one, then we have you to hold on to. :) But as far as a movie that both sexes will like, I say How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. It offers laughs, romance, and a little bit of eye candy for both sides.
Personally, I like The Toxic Avenger. There is some romance, gore, action, and B-rated acting, which makes a great 1980's comedy. That is my kind of movie. I'm a sissy. I hate drama.
I personally an a huge fan of Kill Bill Vol 1&2. I think if more girls would give it chance they would probably really like it. They have all the action that guys like, but the story revolves around a woman and her toxic love affair with a fellow assassin. What's there not to relate to? ;)
It's got the swashbuckling - hero - pirate stuff, and lots of guy humor. It's easy to quote, which is a plus and most of the lines are pretty funny. Plus, Fred Savage's character is hilarious. "Is this a 'kissing book?!' " And you've got Andre the Giant.
For the women, it's got the romance and passion and never ending love kind of story, and for those girls with the "I'm a princess" mantra stuck in their little heads, it's got the "I would die for you" kind of love story that they like. And you end with "the grandfather grandson who love each other" sweet (barf!) ending.
"Who's Harry Crumb?" Thats such an awesome John Candy Movie, everyone likes it for one reason or another. And it's not one of those always played on tv movies for an old 80's movie.
