second, it's not uncommon for guys to forget birthdays, (lack of multitasking), but the messed up part is that he claims to be your best friend. Just because he claims it, does not mean that he's YOUR best friend. You might be his best friend, but he's not your best friend.

everyone wants love and attention, but maybe this is not the person to bring it to you. By all means, confront the man about why you are upset, and then clear up what you want out of your friendship. "call me" to a guy means "call me if you happen to think about it, have time, and want to talk". however, "call me after work" means, "call me after work, I have something to say to you".

Guys are forgetful- forgetting things is what they do. If he was your boyfriend, I'd expect him to remember you birthday, but since he's just a friend, I think it's fine. I thought my best friends birthday was June 7, but it turns out it's on the 4th. It doesn't mean I don't love her to death though.

hes not your best friend but he's probably is a friend we sometimes do forget birthdays as there are lot more things to worry about I don't mind if my friend forgets my birthday as its not the most important thing in the world if she doesn't call I won't die as long as she is there when I need her the most that is all that matters

Absolutely not! Don't give him the privilege of calling you his best friend if he is not going to act like it. Let him know that his actions lately have been hurting your feelings and that you would like to stay best friends with him, but he has to make the effort from now on. And then don't call him or anything. See if he puts the effort in to talk to you. If he does, great. If not- he's a terrible best friend!
