I've been living with my dad since I was 6 and now I'm 17 and I have to choose a college to go to, my dad says I can go where ever I want and I really like his old college but my mom, she thinks it would be a waste to go to my dad's old school even though his school is a very good private college. I don't even talk to my mom that much seeing as she doesn't live with me anymore but what she says still makes me doubt on what I should do.
I think you should not listen to anyone here about an advice on this one.
Instead what you need to do is find out for yourself the pros and cons and make your decision. Make a list of the pros and the cons about going to your dads old college. Do the same for you mom's and then make a decision.
You are 17 now and this is the perfect situation for learning to make decisions for yourself. As you grow older you will find yourself trying to make hard decisions. For a lot of people actually deciding which college [at least in developed countries] to go to is one of the first major decision they make as adults.
It sounds like your parents are separated, which means that your mother may be a little envious of your father's influence. Don't worry about what other people think, pick the college you want to attend regardless of who's been there before. I attended the college that my parents had gone to decades earlier, but I picked it because it had the best program for my field of study. If you believe that your father's alma mater is your best choice, go with it.
Your mom seems as though she's a little jealous of the influence that your father is having over you. But regardless of that go to what ever collage that you want to go to .
i think that you should go to whatever college you want to go to. its your life and your decision, not your moms. if you think it is a good college for you then go!
