I would like to know why is that some parents think that Marijuana is worse then what it really is?And you know its not like any of the other drugs. It's neutral, compared to the other drugs. Why do parents get so mad about it?What were your experiences that made you think that Marijuana is so bad?
ok look. alcohal and cigarettes are so so sooo much worse..weed doesn't kill brain cells. its not bad for your lungs. you don t halucinate. it doesn't f*** with your kidneys like alcohal. it just makes you chill..everythings funny..and you get realllllyyyyy hungry.. I hate when people talk shit about weed when no one knows their facts.
It's time to remove all the politicians that promote prohibition. How many more lives have to be needlessly devastated or lost? Prohibited drugs are way easier for kids to get than regulated drugs! Prohibition never works it just causes crime and violence. The year alcohol prohibition ended violent crime fell by 65 percent.
On March 22, 1972 the Richard Nixon-appointed, 13-member National Commission on Marijuana and Drug Abuse recommended the decriminalization of marijuana, concluding, "[Marijuana's] relative potential for harm to the vast majority of individual users and its actual impact on society does not justify a social policy designed to seek out and firmly punish those who use it."
The USA spends 69 billion tax dollars every year on the drug war, builds 900 new prison beds and hires 150 more correction officers every two weeks, arrests someone on a drug charge every 17 seconds, jails more people than any nation and has killed over 100,000 citizens in the drug war.
In 1914 when there were no prohibited drugs 1.3% of our population was addicted to drugs, today 1.3% of our population is still addicted to drugs and there’s way more crime and violence because of the huge profits prohibition generates.
Guns have absolutely nothing to do with using drugs, they have to do with drug prohibition. Al Capone didn’t kill people because he was drunk, he killed people because they got between him and his illegal drug money. The same goes for the drug gangsters of today.
Not one person in history has ever died from marijuana. Many have died from its PROHIBITION.
The right; to freedom of religion, free speech, a free press, to keep and bear arms, to be secure in your person, house, papers and effects against unreasonable search and seizure, to life, liberty and property, to be protected from having your property taken by the government without due process of law and without just compensation, to confront the witnesses against you, to be protected from excessive bail, excessive fines, cruel and unusual punishment, to vote and many others have been denied to millions of Americans in the name of the drug war.
Even the World Health Organization has documented the Failure of U.S. Drug Policies, read the article here, join the mailing list, watch the videos: Internet Explorer: link Other Browsers: link
I will have to disagree about the impaired driving. I've been so high on marijuana that I could not concentrate on the road or the wheel or anything if I was driving. I was laughing so hard (at almost nothing) that I could not breath and my head just had to stay down for a long time while I was laughing. I just leaned against the table with my head down while laughing. I know for a fact I could not drive at that time. - 5 months ago
Are you sure marijuana was the only drug you were doing? Uncontrollable laughter like you described is usually very short lived on pot. "you knew for a fact you couldn't drive at that time". One difference between driving on pot and driving on drugs that are dangerous to drive on is with pot you're aware you're mildly impaired, the vast majority of people adequately compensate for that by being more cautious. Had you been on alcohol you probably would have driven & no telling what harms udv done - 5 months ago

I drive perfactly fine. there was an article in a newspaper here in california where they were thinking about legalizing it, and it said little to no impairment. i drove a motercycle STONED with my friend on the back seat just fine... but I know what you mean by the laughter part... I was in the movie theatre and I was laughing at the movie so hard I couldent breath... and it was an action movie haha [Wanted] - 5 months ago
Do you think it's because they smoked pot all the time, and became addicted to it; or do you think the drugs impaired their mental abilities? - 5 months ago
Answerer
I think there are some serious long-term mental consequences to using it. I've worked with several ex-pot heads (people that did only pot for over 10 years) and it's sad because they KNOW that they aren't as sharp as they should be. You can tell it's extremely frustrating for them to do some of the everyday stuff that I take for granted.
Same thing goes for excessive alcohol consumption (don't get me wrong, I enjoy a drink or two from time to time). - 5 months ago
Question Asker
Oh hello, Mr. Success. It's nice to know there are still perfect people left in the world. Yes, I notice that you left out the part about you not not being happy and feeling like you have to dis on your old high school acquaintances just to make yourself feel better. Just because they didn't kiss everyone's ass and sacrifice their ethics to fit into society's twisted definition of success, doesn't mean that you're so much better just because you make more money, you materialistic freak. - 5 months ago
Well, I don't feel like being attacked because of my opinion about weed, so I'm going to just tell you why. It's illegal and your parents do not want you nor them to get into any type of trouble.
Honestly? No. smoking pot really isn' t that bad for you in and of itself. We live in a culture that prohibits pleasure and as such things like getting high and having sex are going to be punished. Chemically, it isn't that dangerous (there is no LD 50 on pot).
The opportunity cost of pot, however, is high: It instantly makes you a criminal. A single arrest for drug involvement will keep you from ever being a doctor, a lawyer or any number of other professionals because you can't get licensed. You don't get student loans if you have a drug arrest in you back ground. The penalties are arbitrary. Something that might be a fine yesterday might be 2-5 years today because some asshole wants to get tough on drugs. I have a few friends from high school who are still in jail because they were making a little extra money selling harmless drugs like acid and pot.
Second, and more importantly, there are some people who get dedicated to getting high. In the process of getting high, they forget to do other things like study, graduate from high school, do well in college etc.
Finally, pretty much everyone ages out of it. I know damn few 40 year olds who get high anymore simply because it fun when you're young and beautiful but so no worth the trouble anymore. I personally avoid anyone who is still getting high at age 40 because they are a legal liability and the tend to be dull conversationalists.
It isn't that marijuana is that bad, it is that committing a crime can cost you massively. Getting high cost me medical school and my experience is not uncommon among my friends who did use drugs.
I used to stay completely clean during all 4 years of my undergrad in college. I even had friends at many parties who brought weed and would pass it to me and I never took a single hit (as an undergrad). I was always under this constant fear that I would somehow get caught and I would loose my financial aid. So that's why I never did it. My friends would tell me, "name_withheld, will you please do drugs for me just once," because they loved weed so much and wanted me to try it. They even blew it in my face after I passed on the joint or pipe or bong.
But in grad school I told my friends, "I finally want to try weed; I'm coming to your place!" So I got baked and it was pretty cool. But I won't get baked again until at least a month after I get hired from any job because drug tests are part of interviews (or at least my interviews). Actually I think tobacco is really bad because the lethal dose of nicotine is about the same as arsenic. The lethal dose of THC is so much that you have to eat pure THC to die from it. It is impossible to overdose on THC from smoking it. THC is pretty much not a dangerous drug because you have to consume ridiculous amounts of it to OD.
Parents just don't like it because it will cost you your job and it's simply illegal.
Oh, yeah marijuana is harmless.if you want to be a bum when you grow up! xD Marijuana induces memory loss! If you want to be somebody (read; go to college) I suggest you don't smoke it! But.if you believe that it is something you want to experience, just try it once, but never again, because, even though it doesn't seem like it creates an addiction, you never know.It doesn't create addiction so much as you just love the way it makes you feel. (so I've heard). My friend used to smoke pot. Not even very often, just like once a week, and through time, I found him unable to get an inside joke, because he forgot it! He forgot a lot of other rather important stuff as well, like my birthday, when we are supposed to go somewhere. That hurt me, since we are so close. I told him one day that I don't want him like that, that I firmly believe he should quit! He listened to me, agreed, and he no longer smokes pot! And he's even quitting cigarettes! =)
I can understand why parents don't want their kids smoking. I smoke pot and it's not anything super dangerous like cocaine, crack, or meth.but it's not something you want your kids doing.
1) Illegal. Jail time, probation and other legal issues 2) It can affect your motivation. If I smoke you can forget about me doing anything constructive that day lol (except for some odd reason, I write really awesome term papers) 3) The munchies will make you fat. 4) Depending on your mood, personality, and type of weed it can make you freak out. I've broke down a couple times when I was very f***ed up. 5) It makes you very horny, which may or may not be a bad thing. I can control myself very well, but I have a few friends who've had some regrettable hookups.
I do enjoy the drug though, but everything in moderation. I don't think it should be illegal, I think you should make the choice on your own whether you wanna toke or not
Depending on the chemicals in the brain it can effect everyone differently. Some people get really paranoid and turn on others or themselves, while on most it just makes then happier and see everything a little differently. So I suggest try it once and see what effects come from it. It's like everything else . you havta try to know exactly what you can handle.
I agree with the first part, but not with the last. you don't have to try it to find out if you can handle it. So do you sugget I go out and try coke to see if I can handle it, what effects come from it??? No-one should try any illegal drugs because YOU DO NOT KNOW how the individual will react toi it--once might be one time too many times!!!! - 5 months ago
I don't think that marajuana is really THAT bad. I personally had a bad reaction when I smoked it but I don't think its necessarily bad. I would much rather people smoke pot than cigarettes.
