Does Weight-Watchers fat loss program really work? or is it a scam?

m considering joining weight watchers I heard from a few people it is successful for them, do any of you people know if its worth it? I wanna lose 20-25 pounds...

Weight watchers does work. Its totally worth the money if you stick with it. I am on it right now. I just rejoined. The first time I tried it, I wasn't really sticking to it but now I am commited fully.

You get a certain number of points depending on your size and activity level and each food is worth a certain number of points. You just subtract the number of points of each food item from your daily allowance. Most veggies are 0 points. Most fruits are 1 points, but bananas are 2. Lean proteins are like 3-4 points a serving. Steak is 5 I think.

I love the program because you don't have to deprive yourself. You get to eat everything in moderation. The only thing to warn you about is that all points are not created equal. You can't fill your day with junk food just because you have the points for it. You can have 1 or possibly 2 portioned out treats a day but no more because then you won't lose weight as effectively.

You won't be hungry. You also get 35 extra points per week that you can use if you run out of points and you are hungry or if you just want to have something extra. You can use your extra points if you are going to a party or something where you know you are going to want to eat more food too if you want to. Then just add exercise to the plan and you will drop weight. And just so you know, research has proven that weight watchers is the healthiest, safest way to lose weight. You don't have to totally cut anything out. You just learn to eat smaller portions and be more active.

It works quite well, because you can eat a variety of foods and a different amount of food depending on what you're eating. It uses a point system, and every food is allotted x amount of points. Then, they figure up how many points you can eat a day according to your weight, weight loss goal, and your exercise plan. You have to stick to it, but it does work.

I would just pay for the first month or so, get your point info. and figure out how many points you need, and go it alone from there. That's what most of us have done, and it works, even without the weight Nazi at the scales during the meetings.

My mother used Weight Watchers for years. They set a goal for weight loss each week, or month, and then you go weigh-in at the end of each period to see if you achieved your goal. If not, you have to pay a fine. I never understood why she didn't just set the goal herself, and pay herself a fine if she didn't meet it. I mean, why throw money away. It seemed to help her some, however, she stopped going and gained a bit of weight. At least she stopped paying fines.

weight watchers actually works, because the goal of weight watchers is to change your behavior so you eat less and move more.

most of the other plans are based on "tricks" that tell people they can get a reward without working for it. not weight watchers.

A few years back I went on weight watchers, and I got good results surprisingly fast! If you actually stick to the rules, and exercise moderately it should work because it is an entire lifestyle change, your not just cutting calories or anything. It is kind of annoying having to figure out how much points things are, but after a few days or a week you remember how many points are for certain things you have often and its not so bad. I got sick of counting points after a few months so I stopped, but I was able to eat smarter after being on WW, and I continued to lose weight and keep it off. This isn't the case for everyone, its up to you how much effort you put into it.

It can work, but like most weight loss programs most people will either not lose weight or will gain back what they lost.  The key is to make a life style change that works for you.  I hated dieting and had had lots of bad experiences.  When it finally took hold me what I did was start with weight lifting.  Lifting weights allowed me to eat real food and still lose weight.  Then I cleaned up my diet, and started eating better.  Finally I started in with major cardio.  Now I run, do zumba, take step classes.  It is all about lifestyle.  Weight Watchers can definitely help get you there...but you need to decide what else you want to do...and if you are someone who struggles with feeling deprived I definitely think you should do weights, since upping your muscles allows you to eat.  You can start out with simple weights from the store and an exercise ball.

yea I am sure it will work! I mean you will eat healthy, and less how can it not work? and on top of it if you start working out. I tried it, but it just wasn't for me, I didn't like counting points,. instead I just ate healthy with small portions, and counted my calories and worked out and lost it. there is really no magic answer or pill for weight loss. calories in and out. eat good and work out for a month=losing weight

Yes and no. It's a scam in that you could simply follow this diet without joining. And it's not a scam in that it will probably work. The only difference is your wallet.

It's like Subway. If you eat there you will lose weight since it's healthier. But you could simply make a sandwich at home and save half the cost.

my friend tried them and it didn't work out too well for her so she switched to a different diet. it was a 1500 calorie diet , something like that, she was very vague about it but she lost 20 pounds in a month. I know that's not health btu she exercised everyday and ate less. it worked for her. check with a doctor for details or a naturopath.

I think it depends on the person and their body. Can't hurt to try and if after an allocated time it is not shifting the weight, then try something else.

Sometimes in weightloss you have to try different things to see which one works best for you both mentally and physically! Good luck! :o)

Actually, I know someone who is on that program and she lost a LOT of weight and she looks really good. It works well for her, but I think it depends on the person, because some people say it works and other people say that it doesn't.

I've used it and I lost a little more than 20 pounds. I didn't actually go there though, like for the meetings. I just got the book and the little thing that helps you determine the points of things from the first meeting. It worked really well for me and after a while I didn't eat as much, so I didn't have to check the points of things anymore. I still eat healthier and not as much, because I'm not as "hungry" anymore. It's definitely worth trying.

Why spend money to lose weight?  All you have to do is cut 250 calls a day from your diet and you will lose 1-2 pounds a week.

any program will work if you embrace it. 20-25 lbs, try to lose 1-2 lbs a week, so you don't put yourself in caloric deficits.
