What does "I love you, but I'm not in love with you mean?

Just like everybody has said Love - all it really means is I care about you or I love you as a friend!
In love with you - means I want you sexually, physically, mentally, emotionally all of those and more - this phrase is one of the most hardest lines to use and when guys say I love you all they're really telling me is I care about you as a friend!

"I love you" means kinda like " I love ya" ... You care about the person.... think they are cool...I have an ex that " I love" but I am not still " in love with him" ... I still love him for his personality and he is a genuine guy ...but I am NOT " in love" with him....

When you say " I am in love with you" it means you adore the person you admire them ..can't stop thinking of them... IN LOVE...being "in love" usually takes time to acquire.

When I hear that phrase it means that they really care about you, you mean a lot to them but they are not in love with you.

In other words, it means I Love you in a sense of caring about you as a person, as a friend but not IN love with you which means no deep deep feelings of love and compassion of wanting to spend the rest of your life with that person. A person who is IN love with you has deeper feelings for you and see themselves with you in the near future, A strong love that wants to be more than friends, extreme caring.

When someone in a long term relationship says this to their partner, it is usually because their feelings have cooled off. Maybe they feel that the passion has died down, or just died altogether.

It's very difficult to be in a committed relationship and not still feel love for the other person, even if you don't feel passionately in love with them anymore. It means they still care for their partner, but that the spark that makes them want to be only with that person for the rest of their life has dimmed.

Talk to your wife, and find out if she feels that the passion and the spark can be reawakened. Good luck!

She may not love you like that, she just loves you which means she cares for you respectfully! There are many times of love out there!

There are different kinds of 'loves', you love your father, brother, a friend, a cat/dog, child. It's all love. But when you're IN love, that's only with a person you want to be with as boyfriend/girlfriend, have sex with, that makes your heart race.

So 'I love you' but 'I'm not in love with you' means you love that person as a friend, and maybe deeply so, but you don't see him/her as your boy/girlfriend.
