I was in a relationship and the girl use to tell me things like "You're the only guy my best friend has ever liked" or "My goddaughter loves you she talked about you all day"
Do people say these types of things to draw someone in closer?
Of course people can do that but I had a ex that my dad really liked. He never liked any other guy but he liked him. I use to tell him that he was the only guy my dad has ever liked. Which was the truth. I don't know if he believed me or not but it was the truth and I tell the truth.
Yes, that would be one reason for saying such things. I always look at this as one of two motivations although I am sure there are others. The first is that she is showing you that you are a part of her world -- in her orbit. It is almost a rite of initiation to show to you that you have gotten into her close circle of friends, family, etc.
The other motivation is more a result of her being insecure and latching onto to those things that are close to her as a means of getting and keeping her hooks in you. That is not meant to be mean-spirited but when someone is insecure they may blow things out of proportion just to keep you close.
If so, why? Did it make you feel bad? Please be honest. I won't think badly of anyone who answers. I want to know from both girls and guys point...

What pickup lines do you use to start a conversation with someone you are attracted to?
I don't use "pickup lines" on girls I am attracted to. If I am attracted to her, I try to approach her in a way that is engaging, such as commenting on something related to the current situation. At other times, a simple hi and a smile are my weapon of choice.
How do they typically respond?
Girls mostly respond in a positive way, but there are always the shy or uninterested girls that don't allow me to get past a simple hi.
