If you have been dating this guy for 1 years and just now having sex, then he's in it for the long haul and not for a booty call. NOBODY spends that much time with a woman just for a one-night stand. Guys will lie about anything to get into your pants but the effort taken is the deciding factor if he is just in it for the sex. The greater the effort and time spent with you, the less chance for an erotic encounter.
You really cannot tell easily during sex but you can do so before and after sex. How to tell before sex? That was mostly given already. But another way is to talk with him directly about sex with you. If he gets complicated or to giddy, then take warning.
