What do girls mean when they tell me this?

My interpretation of it is this: you're the ultimate goal. While girls may be distracted by other types of guys and are experimenting with those kinds of relationships currently, you're the kind of guy they'd want to be with in the end. I'd take it as a compliment. It means you're more mature and have reach a higher level of emotional cognition :)

In my experiences, I have been told this a lot the past 20 years:

"Some lucky woman would be happy to be with you, but I am not interested"
"You are a great guy but just not my type"
"You will find a nice lady someday because you are such a nice guy"

It is a woman's way of saying all this, BUT. You lack all of the requirements needed to gain her interest in you. That is how it really is. Anyone who thinks otherwise is mislead and incorrect. It really makes no sense how a man is such a nice guy but women will not date him.

Just let it be and find someone else who will not reject you so misleadingly.

She's really saying: "you're sweet, and I like being with you because you treat me perfect. . . But. . . I need someone that will treat me nicely and yet not be afraid to hurt my feelings. "

Above all, girls value confidence. They like the fact of their men going out of their way to do sweet things for them, but they LOVE the fact of a man being his own independent person, and daring a little to do something crazy. ; Girls shouldn't be your ultimate focus, having fun, furthering yourself, and creating your own life is your goal. One day, a girl will find you for who you are, and like that person. When you spend your life looking for girls to please. . . The next girl is just going to see a floor mat of a boy, with scars on his heart. It's time to turn your head to them, and create yourself again, then you'll attract some attention.

Example: Braveheart didn't woe the woman because he loved on her. . . No. . . He attracted her because he was something great. . . Be your own Braveheart.

She is saying your a nice stable kind of guy. She doesn't see you as a bad ass or rebel in and sense.
