While she is texting, she is not talking to you face to face, so she opens up more and is not so shy. When she is with you, she is nervous and shy. Try to get her to loosen up.
Alright man if you want to test the waters and see what this girl is thinking, then start flirting with her. Stupid little witty jokes are a godsend when trying to figure out how a girl feels about you. You can tell some of the stupidest jokes/puns at times, and if a girl does really like you then she will usually automatically laugh regardless of if it's actually funny or not.
That's probably my only real test to determine what a girl is thinking during an initial approach. Take it from me though as an experienced guy, don't let on how much you like her though until you are 100% sure she likes you back. Acting too soon before she has had time to figure out her feelings will earn you a one way ticket to the holocaust for guys known as the Friend Zone. Just for future reference if you get to that point I mean.
Ummm, hello. Because she's an immature girl that has no clue what she wants. Maybe she thinks about you often, but doesn't picture you as a romantic interest. Text messages don't mean anything really. Girls just like to talk. They don't really care who it is just as long as they talk back.
I'd ignore her or just say hi to her back and not worry too much about it. She's probably acting like that to "try and play a game" or maybe she just wants "the attention". I never did well with girls like those, so I stayed away with them, and went with the girls that were just casual, fun and never played mind games.

My ideal first date would be to take a girl to do somethings she's never done before. Whether it be Ice Skating or Sky Diving, something that exciting that she won't forget.
