Ha ha. You're like Rory on the first season of "The Gilmore Girls. " As awkward as it might seem to you, if the guy likes you, he probably doesn't mind at all. Just ask her for some advice and tips and let her know that you don't want to look geeky. She's just trying to help.

Have a talk with your mom and just tell her that it'll get worked out - that she's making things awkward. Be honest, but not harsh. Just tell her how you feel; she'll understand.

Then, let it progress from there. Let the guy make the first move on asking you out - don't initiate anything. The ball is in his court (or at least it should be). It's just your job to respond one way or the other to him.

Tell your mom nicely that it's really not her place to step in and that it makes you uncomfortable when she does that. Just be honest with her.
