I'm feeling a little desperate for some new people in my life so I made a posting on craigslist. Lots of people replied but I don't know if I should meet anyone off the internet, Anyone have any success stories or horror stories.
I think online dating is becoming more and more popular these days. Dating online is perfectly fine as long as you know what site you are looking into. I don't think craigslist is the best for you because you have no info about the other person. Person I feel myspace is even better cause you can read about the other person and see their friends. for me, I did find a decent girl online and we got along just fine. So I guess that was a success. But yea, do watch out for the majority of shallow guys out there. All they want is sex. But if you look hard enough, you will find decent people
I disagree with meeting people on MySpace. I had a MySpace profile once but I kept getting messages from random girls who liked my empty, not even close to being filled in profile. I saved their messages and later realized that every woman who came on to me had the EXACT same profile with the exception of their pictures and people's comments. What are the odds that all of them had the exact same background, were the same age, had the same zodiac sign and all had adult sex links. Continued below - A month ago
Somehow I commented 3 times in a row. Anyways, if women's profiles who were probably posing as males then why can't men's profiles be just as fake. Something to think about when you meet people online, ARE THEY FOR REAL? - A month ago

That's because you are new to online social sites like myspace. All sites like that have what are called bots. You need to learn a way to ignore them. Instead of getting your hopes up from bots, you should be the one messaging the real girls. - A month ago
I actually met my current boyfriend on myspace! Lol and we've been dating for over a year now. I don't think its a bad idea you just have to be careful. There are a lot of guys online just looking for sex.
I have dated men online. And what I have found was that most of them don't want a relationship they are just looking to meet lots of woman and get laid lots without obligation to a real relationship. However, there are a few who honestly want to meet someone. Today we should be careful no matter how meet someone.
Let me give you some example of the type of men I have met over the internet.
There was Ron. Recovering alcoholic; self centered and rude. Steve. Under achiever; just looking for sex without ties. Considered most of the woman he meant unstable and lots of baggage. Mark. Poor self image. Steroid freak.
But I met Richard who I have a relationship with; a healthy relationship and we want the same things. Richard was far from my physical type but I gave it a shot and I am glad I did.
Use caution and don't take someone on who is going to present to many challenges.
Be honest. For example I didn't want to meet someone with small children. And believe me there are a lot of decent men with small children but I knew it would be a challenge for me. So I wrote in my profile that I was looking for a man who had children who where 18 teen and older. Living outside of the house.

What pickup lines do you use to start a conversation with someone you are attracted to?
In order to get to know someone I would wait until there is something I could laugh about with that other person. Such as someone dancing in the hallway...i would turn to the person I like and say "ha wow, some people are pro's" then id say something like "your friends with so and so" or "do you live in my neighborhood?" ((I know this works sometimes, but I don't know how else to do it))
How do they typically respond?
They usually smile or just respond to a yes and then I feel a lot better about my self and continue on the conversation until I got there number.
