First of all, lingerie enhances a woman's femininity... it says "I am a classy lady". Secondly, lingerie increases most men's sex drive -- most men just become MORE aroused.
Me, I love a corsette on a woman, as it tends to accentuate her curves, and it tends to tighten and call attention to a woman's butt. I also love garterbelts / garter stockings for the same reason.
In short, I never saw a piece of lingerie that I really didn't like. I think of lingerie sorta like dressing up for action. When you go out on the town, you do your hair, get your sexy outfit out, right? Same thing. When you hit the bedroom with your beau, you wanna be dressed for the occasion.
I'll give the slightly cliche answer here. Lingerie is sexy because it's like the wrapping paper on a gift.
Now for a little bit more of an explanation. To me it's sometimes way more sexy for her to be wearing something that hides things from me but hints that they are there. It doesn't even have to be fancy lingerie. A simple plain pair of panties and one of those tank top can be good.
And to give the decidingly sexual answer, sometimes the fun comes from watching the lingerie come off as well.
In my experience, lingerie is a big turn on for guys. You don't need to get fancy -- just a simple while slip with lace trim, and maybe a pair of black stilettos. But that seems to have the same effect as waving a red flag in front of a bull -- most guys come to attention immediately (if you get my drift...)
