I just got my first boyfriend a week ago and now I'm unsure whether or not I should tell my parents. My older brother knows and supports me either way. What should I do? How did you let your parents know about your first boyfriend/girlfriend and what age were you?

Thanks!

Definitely tell your parents! I know it can be tough to find the right way, but it's much easier to spend time with your guy when your parents are okay with it. Here's what I would do:

First of all, don't feel as though you have to tell them that the two of you are already dating. They will feel more comfortable about the relationship if they don't think you ever hid it from them. If they know you've been dating for a while, they'll be suspicious as to why you felt like you had to hide it from them.
Then, the next time you guys hang out, mention him to your parents, and tell them a little about him if they ask, but don't say he's your boyfriend. When you get back home and they ask you about what happened, you can tell them that things went well, and that you guys are dating, or he's your boyfriend, or whatever.
If you guys aren't hanging out any time soon, you can act like it happened at school, or church, or wherever you see him.
I did this with my last boyfriend, because I was unsure of how to tell my parents too, and it worked well. Good luck!

Teeehee, I got my first Boyfriend in November. Ummm, what I did is wait until he asked me somewhere (which was his house in my case) then be like "hi can I go to ____'s house" and they'll be all like "who? " and you can be like "yeah ____ he's kinda my boyfriend SO ANYWAYS can I go? " and just take it from there. It'll all work out, and its not like they can completely stop you from going out with him, so if they reject the idea, just keep going out under the radar.

Point is, you can't keep him a secret for long (durrrr) so just get it over with when you can. Let it take its own course (thats what I did, it worked out perfect)

I got my first boyfriend in 6th grade I didn't tell my mom but she found out anyway but she was pretty cool with it.Recently I have (younger) friend and she just told her mom about having a boyfriend and her mom flipped but she's still going out with him...her dad didn't give a crap tho.....u may want to ask your brother what to do since none of us here know your parents but go ahead and tell. Whats the worse that could happen?
