He told me he loved me but not enough to marry me and never will, his wife died 3 years ago and he said he would never love me as he did her.

Sounds like he chooses to never move forward from his late wife and their marriage. Forget him; you will always be living in her shadow.

Dump him. Is never a good idea to be 2nd best, as it eventually this will destroy a relationship.

Dam. he sure has no feelings but at least he's telling you the truth and not leading you on. I would dump him cause he pretty much said he'll never give you what you really want at of yalls relationship. He's still holding on to his passed wife and that's never good, girl. Have a long talk to him and asked that yall just be friends if you still want him in your life. Date someone else who really wants to be with you. If you don't this and stay with this guy, your going to regret it. Just walk away.

I would ask myself the following question: what is his friendship worth to me? Can I only be his friend and not his life partner? Sometimes we must distinguish between having a friend and having an acquaintance... Good luck...
