Well, I generally don't unless the relationship has been going strong for about a month. So far only two of my girlfriends have met my mother. Basically what I do is I take everyone out to dinner, and then I just introduce her, and say that I've been dating her for a month. From there I guess we talk about it, filling in details as it comes up. That's basically how I do things.

Sorry, if I sound cross, but I think I needed to make point.

Hey, I hate conflict, but I hate what happens by avoiding it more. If you run away from conflict, some sort of injustice will occur. This is fact. So fine. Respect your parents, even if they don't respect you, your decision, or your boyfriend, and let them continue to treat them like crap. Sounds great. That's so much better than conflict. Oh you're not going to tell them? Even better, hiding your boyfriend in the darkness like a dirty, shameful little secret is also awesome.

I get stuff like this all the time from him. I just really want to respect my parents and would hate for any conflict to arise between us. And I know he is the one for me I just have to get over my fear.

My advice to you is this. Be honest, tell your folks, but don't take crap from them, and most importantly, if they give your boyfriend hell, STAND UP FOR HIM! Because I gotta tell you I can't even describe how lousy it made me feel that she never even tried. Tch.. none of them did.

God, I wish my girlfriends stood up for me. There was this one girl I was seeing, her parents, relatives, and their friends, used to constantly tell her that I would break her heart, or that I was just with her because she's black. They constantly gave me crap, and tried to break us up, telling us lies, sending me threats. She never said a damned thing. Never stood up for me. Not once. She kept saying "I don't like conflict".. WELL WHAT THE HELL DO YOU CALL THIS CRAP?

I know the feeling. Still, I think in the end, it's your choice, not theirs. It shouldn't matter what other people think. If they start giving either of you crap for it, stand up for yourselves. Stand up for him. Call them out on their racist bullsh!t and tell them to get used tot he idea, because chances are, he's not going anywhere.

      20. I already have a boyfriend and know my parents wouldn't really approve. They say they would but deep down I know they would be ashamed due to racial issues.

I'm 30 now, but the last girl I introduced was still with me, and I introduced her at age 25. The one before that was when I was when I was still living at home, at age 22. Other girls got close to the one month marker, others actually reached it, but the relationship was already falling apart by then, so I saw no point in introducing them.

So, since I was so honest, how old are you?

Your age range? See I still live at home but am serious with my boyfriend. My parents expect open honesty so it would be I suppose dishonest if I just flat out told them. I guess living away from parents makes it easier.
