I think homosexuality is caused by mental illness, insecurity has a big part to play in being gay. I don't believe you're born gay. So what's the answer?

I agree with you to a certain extent. But some people that I have grew up with at a young age have kind of shifted my opinion. I believe in the possibility of boys receiving above average female hormones at birth and vs versa with the girls. Have you ever grown up with a boy who was just so feminine and everyone thought 'he has to be gay'? You see them years latter and your hunch was correct? Ya gotta wonder

I think that's a pretty closed-minded attitude. If you had ever known or been friends with a gay person, I don't think you would think that way.

One of my closest friends is gay and he's very well-balanced, confident and intelligent. I also know several other gay people, most of whom have great personalities and no mental problems.

If you were an insecure person, why on earth would you "choose" to be gay?! Gay people are constantly judged and discriminated against. If you ask me, insecurity would be a good reason to hide your homosexuality in an often unforgiving world.

However, it's not a choice, a mental state or a disease. You should learn to accept people's sexual preference the same way you accept the color of their skin, eyes, hair or any other characteristic they were born with.
