When you love someone deeply, and they love you, then expressing your love sexually is appropriate and normal, whether you happen to be related or not. Sex without love is inappropriate, whether you are related or not. Most brothers and sisters love each other very much, underneath the squabbles and fights, and incest is practiced in secret far more often than anyone can imagine.

We all keep it secret because so many people condemn it. The people who condemn it are usually very repressed and inhibited, and frightened of sexual power. Many of them have taken on beliefs that they think are acceptable to society, rather than think for themselves.

There is also quite a lot of superstition about the children being "cursed by God with deformities", in spite of all the recent scientific research reports which state that the difference in incest children is "insignificant" or "over-exaggerated", and that "most deformities are caused by pollution". Women over 38 are more likely to have deformed children, though nobody tries to stop them from having sex.

I would say that if you and your sister love each other, it would be foolish not to make love. Because of society's fears, most girls in our society grow up and leave home and search the world for their true love, and never find him, even though he was just in the next room!

If your sister loves you, hold her close to your heart and never let her go. Incest is far more erotic, far more loving, far deeper, and far more permanent than any other type of love on this planet.

If you and your sister are both consenting to it, then feel free to do what you want. People just say it's "gross" and "unnatural" because that's what society tells them. I myself would never ever sleep with my brother because I just don't feel that way. But there are people out there who are like you and your sister. People should be free to love who they want no matter what. And I'm not really sure about any "risks" there are linked to deformity in children or anything, but if it ever came up it wouldn't hurt to research it. You're gonna get a lot of negative comments about this, but it's your life and you're free to do what you want.

I don't think its wrong except that it's a risk - if something goes wrong you have to deal with each other for the rest of lives.

All the answers are "it's unnatural" and "it's gross" which aren't reasons, just excuses. Shampoo is unnatural and all sex is gross in a way. Just goes to show there is no good reason except tradition and possibly an old evolution thing that no longer applies.

More than likely, because it's incest. And the majority of people hold no feelings of attraction towards their sibling(s). People say it's unnatural for one reason: IT IS.

Assuming you are both at age of sexual consent, I personally don't think it is bad. That is to say, I wouldn't personally do it, but I don't see it as wrong. However, here's the main arguments against it.

1: Morally.
Morals and ethics are a funny bunch. There is no 'right' or 'wrong' when arguing ethics or morals, it's more a 'democratic vote'. In that sense, society still regards incest as being morally repugnant. The reason I don't have a problem with it, is because I don't consider it societies right to say who can and cannot fall in love with each other, and if two consenting adults love each other (including sexually), so what if they are related.

2: Birth Defects.
This is probably the greatest argument for me to get around. There defiantly is a chance of defects (though I've seen conflicting numbers of incidence). Regardless, my problem here is that we are making a law over something that could potentially happen. Why is there no law against:
- Smoking whilst pregnant
- Being 40+ and getting pregnant
- Drinking alcohol
- Taking drugs
- Having known hereditary diseases in your family

The point is, incest is criminalized, partly because of the risk to potential children, which given the above, I don't consider fair. A brother and sister that love each other could be sent to jail (even if they didn't want kids), where as a 40year old drug addicted mother with a family history of Parkinson's breaks no laws should she fall pregnant.

3: Religion
I strongly believe in a secular society, and therefore I don't agree with any religion having a sway over the laws that cover everyone.

The problem with incest is that it's an emotional debate, and it's damn near impossible to detract your emotions from the subject matter. I myself work as a mental health nurse in a forensic psychiatry ward (colloquially, the criminally insane; I work with pedophiles and antisocial personalities). For me to function in my work, I need to be able to separate my emotions from my duty.

When looking at incest, I use the same approach I do at work and remove the emotional response (Yuck! your disgusting! etc), and look at the raw arguments for it. Once I do that, I can see no reason for it to be ostracized, and defiantly not criminalized.

As far as infertility goes, doctors can be and have been wrong, and tubal ligation and birth control can fail... and that's only assuming you're telling us the truth about your sister's infertility. Other than that, you'd be shunned by your community, detested by the rest of Anglo-American society, the rest of your family would have to live with the social stigma of your behavior, your friends would abandon you, any established religion would turn you away, and you would be a criminal in most of the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK. In some cases you would face major jail time and a possible life-long sex offender label even on the off chance that your sister is over 18. The scientific answer is that you could both have recessive genes that could produce physical or mental defects in offspring. With a close relative there is a much higher likelihood that those defects would be expressed. If, for instance, each of you got a gene that produces some kind of
a disability from one of your parents and the other parent had a dominant normal gene neither of you would have that defect, but there's a 50/50 chance that the defective gene could be homozygous in your offspring and the genetic defect would be expressed due to that fact. With hundreds of thousands of genes, the odds of any offspring having serious birth defects is highly likely.
This is most likely why there is an instinctive aversion to incest (as there should be) in all primates, so believing it's natural is ridiculous. Aside from that, it is reviled and considered disgusting by every society on Earth. The only way it does occur is when both parties are so narcissistic that they have no regard whatsoever for social taboos.

I think this is a pretty messed up assumption to think that if it happens then its natural. Murder, rape, and deformities happen, but that doesn't make them natural or right.
